Geely has launched the Galaxy A7 BEV, an all-electric sedan, in the Chinese market in two variants: 550 Premium and 550 Excellence, whose prices are CN¥112,800 (US$16,530) and CN¥119,800 (US$17,550), respectively. Its main competitors are BYD Seal, Changan Nevo A06 EV and BYD Qin Plus EV.
It is a five-seater EV with a layout of 2-3. Its dimensions in terms of length, width, height and wheelbase are 4935 mm, 1905 mm, 1500 mm and 2845 mm, respectively. Its ground clearance is 125 mm, and the boot space is 547 litres. It comes with a wheel size of 17 inches as standard and 18 inches as an option.
7.6s 0-100 km/h acceleration
The Galaxy A7 BEV comes with a single PMS motor mounted with the front axle, meaning its drivetrain is front-wheel drive. It features a single-speed automatic gearbox, standard in the segment. The motor generates the power of 160 kW (215 hp), acceleration timing for 0-100 km/h is 7.6 seconds, and the top speed goes up to 180 km/h.
It is available only with a single LPF battery pack of 58.05 kWh. On a full charge, the car gives a CLTC range of 550 km. The rear-word range is 480 km to 500 km, depending on driving conditions. It supports a 100 kW DC charger that takes around 30 minutes to charge the car from 10 to 80 per cent.
Traditional Door Handles
The Galaxy A7 BEV’s front-end uses the brand’s ‘Galaxy Ripple’ design language, which gives it a clean EV look. Up front, it gets a closed-off grill for better aerodynamics, a full-width LED light strip to add modernness and a futuristic touch, and sharp and angular headlamps for better visibility during the night.
On the sides, a sleek fastback-style silhouette that improves airflow as well as efficiency and traditional handles for the entry door for better practicality. The rear features a full-width LED tail light bar that creates a wide stance, a smooth bumper for simple styling, and a clean and conventional tailgate.
16-Speaker Flyme Sound System
The Galaxy A7 BEV’s cabin features a 14.6-inch central touchscreen for the infotainment system that is the control centre of the car, as there are very few physical buttons, meaning all the controls are touch-based. It is powered by the Flyme Auto 2 system, which supports multi-zone AI voice control, continuous conversation and smartphone integration through HiCar, CarPlay & Flyme Link.
It comes with a two-spoke and flat-bottom (double-D) steering wheel, and there’s a digital instrument cluster that shows all the driving data on the screen. To enhance the cabin experience, it gets a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system, including headrest speakers for the driver, and multicolour ambient lighting. The front-row seats come with ventilation, heating and massage functions.
The cabin also gets a wireless phone charging pad and dual-zone climate control for convenience, and to make the driving and parking smooth, it gets a 360° panoramic camera system and advanced driver assistance systems which include some important features such as adaptive cruise, lane assist and auto parking.
Brake & Suspension
The Galaxy A7 BEV’s front and rear brakes are ventilated discs and solid discs, featuring Better braking performance and provides consistent stopping power, respectively, and gets an electronic parking brake. The front suspension is MacPherson strut, which gives a stable steering feel, and the rear is multi-link that helps with better ride comfort.
