GAC Trumpchi Yue 7 PHEV Off-Road SUV Unveiled: Price Expected from $35,000

Trumpchi, a car brand under the Chinese automaker GAC Group, unveiled the Yue 7, a full-size plug-in hybrid off-road sport utility vehicle, on April 24, 2026, at the Beijing Auto Show. Its launch in the domestic market is expected in the third quarter of 2026, a month before the launch, and the pre-sale will begin with the tentative price.

Pricing is yet to be revealed; the brand will announce it near the launch. Reportedly, it will be available with the starting price of CN¥250,000 (US$35,000) for the base and can go up to CN¥350,000 (US$50,000) for the top trim. In the Chinese market, the Trumpchi Yue 7 will primarily rival established off-roaders like the BYD Fangchengbao Bao 5 and GWM Tank 400 PHEV. Additionally, it will face stiff competition from upcoming premium entrants such as the Deepal L06 Max and the newly revived Freelander 8 brand (a JLR-Chery collaboration).”

Space & Dimensions

The Yue 7 will come with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout and may also be offered with a 7-person seating configuration in a traditional 2-3-2 layout. The five-seater will come with ample boot space to carry big luggage, and a seven-seater, if introduced, with a very large cargo capacity.

As the Trumpchi has revealed the car as a full-size SUV, it is certain that it will measure more than 5 meters in length and feature a wheelbase of above 3 meters. There are no words about its width and height, but they are set to be adequate so that rear-seating passengers get ample headroom and shoulderroom.

Exterior & Design

Up front, it gets phased-array LED headlights in a vertical triple-stacked design featuring a digital look; dual bumper-mounted auxiliary lights to give better visibility during dust, fog, and heavy rain; an eight-unit roof LED light bar in a rectangular shape for long-range illumination that helps in off-roading; a matte-black horizontal grille with GAC lettering to reflect its identity; and vertical air curtains for better airflow.

On the sides, it features a vertical gearbox on the rear-side window that can be used to keep tools, and it also adds a muscular look; integrated side steps between the front and rear wheels to enter or exit the cabin conventionally; flush door handles to reduce wind resistance that help with better efficiency; and double-tone bronze wheels with off-road tires for better grip on rough terrain and also on road.

At the rear, it comes with a sideways opening tailgate, which helps easy access to the boot for loading and unloading the cargo; a spare tire is mounted on the tailgate that can be replaced if any of the vehicle’s tires burst during the off-roading; and a vertically oriented ‘Polar Light’ design taillight to give the vehicle a modern as well as a unique digital appearance.

Interior & Features

The GAC’s Trumpchi is yet to reveal its interior and features. The cabin is expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment system for all control and a head-up display instead of a digital instrument cluster that shows all the driving data on the windshield. It will feature a two-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons on it for better practicality.

All the seats are expected to be electronically adjustable with features for heating, ventilation, and massage. The cabin is set to get a wireless charging pad and multiple USB ports across the cabin for phone charging. It is set to come with wireless connectivity, an AI-based voice assistant, and OTA updates for the latest software updates to the infotainment system.

Powertrain & Performance

The Yue 7 is based on the latest GMC 3.0 ‘Thunder’ plug-in hybrid system, which features a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine under the hood and two motors, one on each axle, featuring an all-wheel drive configuration. The transmission is set to be single-speed automatic, the same as the competitor.

The details regarding the power output, peak torque, 0-100 km (0-60 mph) acceleration timing, top speed, battery pack, only-electric range, overall ‘full battery with full fuel’ range, charging capacity, fuel efficiency, and other details are yet to be revealed.
