BYD Sealion 06 DM-i Hits Dealerships Early - 305 km on Pure Electric

The Chinese carmaker Build Your Dream (BYD) has officially confirmed that they will launch the updated 2026 Sealion 06 DM-i on May 26, 2026, for the domestic market; before that, the plug-in hybrid vehicles have started arriving at the dealership.

Reports say that the BYD is all set to introduce the updated 2026 Sealion 06 DM-i in two variants: 305 Long-Range with the price of 150,000 yuan ($22,100) and 305 Flagship with the cost of 160,000 yuan ($23,600).

Notably, the LiDAR-based DiPilot 300 assisted-driving system will be available optionally with the price of 12,000 yuan ($1,770). It is manufacturer’s mid-to-high-end advanced driver-assistance system, which is also known by the name of God’s Eye (TianShen) B.

The ADAS system includes one roof-mounted LiDAR, multiple cameras, millimeter-wave radars, and ultrasonic sensors featuring both urban and highway navigation autopilot and other smart features. It is powered by the NVIDIA Drive Orin X chip, whose computing power is 300 TOPS.

Reportedly, it is set to be based on the brand’s fifth-generation DM hybrid system, which will feature a next-generation 38 kWh LFP battery pack, whose pure-electric range is 305 kilometers and combined one is 1845 kilometers on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle condition.

Under the hood, it will get a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a permanent magnet synchronous motor, whose maximum power output is 74 kW and 175 kW, respectively. Since the electric motor is mounted on the front axle, it will feature a front-wheel drive configuration.

CarNewsChina says that it supports DC chargers up to 74 kW, and its fuel efficiency when the battery is depleted is only 3.3 liters per 100 kilometers driven. In February 2026, the MIIT filing revealed the combined fuel efficiency and energy consumption are 0.63 liters and 17.1 kWh, respectively, per 100 kilometers.

Its front and rear suspension are MacPherson strut and multi-link, respectively, with the brand’s DiSus-C, an intelligent damping system, which ensures ride comfort, stability, handling, and body control by automatically adjusting the suspension shock absorbers depending on the road conditions.

Set to come with the same seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3 with a zero-gravity front passenger seat. Both front seats are powered with the memory function and have ventilation, heating, and massage features. The interior is expected to see upgrades and may borrow all the goodies that come with its EV counterpart.

Reportedly, the cabin is set to be equipped with the 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with a smooth user interface, a digital instrument cluster before the driver’s seat, a large windshield head-up display that projects the driving, a 50-watt wireless phone charging pad for convenience, and an electronic column-mounted shifter.

Other features that are expected to come with the 2026 Sealion 06 DM-i are a 12-speaker Dynaudio audio system to enhance the immersive sound experience; a fragrance system to make the cabin fresh; and a panoramic sunroof with the electric sunshade to add premiumness.

Dimensionally, it is set to be the same as the outgoing model, which measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 2,820 mm; compared to its competitors, the Li Auto L6, Tesla Model Y, and Nio ES6, it is longer by 100 mm, 70 mm, and 95 mm, respectively.

BYD launched the BYD Song Pro DM-i Flying Edition on April 22, 2026, with the price ranging from 102,900 to 132,900 yuan, which translates to 15,150 to 19,550 USD, for the Chinese market. It is available with two battery packs that are 26.6 kWh and 34.27 kWh, featuring the all-electric CLTC range of 220 km and 301 km, respectively.
