Tank 300 L Plug-in Hybrid SUV Pre-Sale Begins: Up To 1,122 km Range, 4.1-Second Sprint

Great Wall Motors’s premium off-road SUV brand Tank started presale for the Tank 300 L, a plug-in hybrid off-road SUV, on July 6, 2026, for two different variants that are Hi4-T and Hi4-Z, whose prices are 259,800 yuan (₹36.46 lakh) and 269,800 yuan (₹37.86 lakh), respectively. Following the launch, this vehicle is all set to take on the BYD Fangchengbao Bao 5, the Jetour Shanhai T2, and the Beijing BJ40.

Reportedly, the carmaker will launch this off-road car on July 19, 2026, and then the delivery will start. Notably, the sale price is expected to slightly power the presale amounts. Many reports are suggesting that it will start from 249,900 yuan, which translates to ₹34.95 lakh. The long-wheelbase version of the Tank 300 is also a five-seater, which comes with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout.

This vehicle is 4,886 mm longer with a wheelbase of 3,010 mm, 1,984 mm wider, and 1,927 mm taller. Compared to the standard wheelbase version, the refreshed version has 126 mm more length with a 260 mm longer wheelbase and 54 mm more width. The height remains the same as the outgoing model. It has a ground clearance of 235 mm.

The Tank 300 L is based on Great Wall Motor’s Tank platform, a body-on-frame (ladder-frame); both its variants get a 180 kW 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood. 

The former is available with a 130 kW electric motor on the front axle, featuring an electronically controlled part-time AWD drivetrain and making the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration possible in just 6.1 seconds; the latter gets 180 kW and 200 kW electric motors on the front and rear axles, respectively, featuring an electric AWD drivetrain, and it takes only 4.1 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h.

The Hi4-T variant is equipped with a 37.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving it a 105 km emission-free range and a combined range of 913 km; the Hi4-Z trim runs with a 59.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that runs up to 200 km in pure electric mode, but the combined range is 1,122 km. The ranges for each variant are applicable under CLTC conditions.

Upfront, it gets an all-black front grille with TANK lettering, round LED headlights with integrated daylight running lights, and a rugged bumper. On the sides, it has side steps, roof rails, squared-off wheel arch cladding, and mechanical door handles. At the back, it has black robust bumper cladding with side reflectors, a side-opening tailgate with a spare wheel, and horizontally oriented taillamps.

It has an advanced driving assistant system featuring full-scenario navigation autopilot using the one roof-mounted LIDAR sensor and 26 others. Inside, it has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, under which there’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster showing driving data. The center of the dashboard gets a 15.6-inch 2.5K floating touchscreen infotainment system.

The centrally mounted screen runs on the Coffee OS 3 AI operating system, featuring the Coffee GPT AI voice assistant, wireless smartphone connectivity, satellite communication, a built-in radio, and over 4,000 built-in off-road route guides. Front seats are heated, ventilated, support an eight-way massage function, and are also electrically adjustable. 

The driver’s seat is electronically adjustable in 12 ways with a memory function, and the co-passenger seat is only adjustable in 10 ways. The three bench-like rear seats come with adjustable backrests from 25° to 33.7°. Other notable features are two wireless phone charging pads at the center console, an oxygen concentrator for outdoor use such as trekking, and automatic climate control for comfort.
