On July 8, 2026, Build Your Dream, the Chinese automobile manufacturer, achieved the milestone of 17 millionth new energy vehicle production with the recently launched BYD Seal 08, just 82 days after completing the production of the 16 millionth unit. They started production back in December 2008 with the BYD F3DM, and 13 months after that they achieved the milestone of 1 million units.
After completing the 1 million NEV production, they took 18 months to produce more than 2 million vehicles and then 9 months to produce an extra 2 million. They achieved the milestone of the 5 millionth vehicle on 9 August 2023 with the Denza N7. In the next 15 months they produced 5 million vehicles and achieved the 10 millionth vehicle production milestone on 18 November 2024 with the Denza Z9.
After completing 10 million total production, they produced 5 million more units within 13 months, 2 months earlier compared to the previous 5 million units production. After the 15 millionth unit rollout, they take 120 days to produce 1 million more and achieve the milestone of the 16 millionth, and the most recent 1 million production was completed on July 8, 2026, in just 82 days, the fastest yet.

The 17 millionth milestone vehicle, the BYD Seal 08, is available for sale in the Chinese market with a price range from 196,900 to 239,900 yuan. Notably, they have introduced the model as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and an electric vehicle. There are three variants for each PHEV and EV: they are Premium, Flagship, and 4WD Flagship. The length, width, and height of this model are 5,150 mm, 1,999 mm, and 1,505 mm, respectively. The wheelbase is 3,030 mm, and the turning radius is 4.95 meters.
The PHEV gets a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine. The Premium and Flagship get one electric motor on the rear axle featuring rear-wheel drive, and the 4WD Flagship has two electric motors featuring an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. The combined power output is 400 kW (536 hp), the emission-free range is 350 km with a battery pack of 45.36 kWh, and the combined range is 1,000 km for the 4WD flagship variant.
And the EV’s first two get an electric motor on the rear axle, featuring a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain, and the last one comes with two electric motors, one on each, making it an all-wheel-drive vehicle. The top-end variant’s combined power output is 510 kW (684 hp), and its acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 3.3 seconds. The CLTC range for the Premium, Flagship, and 4WD Flagship is 775 km, 905 km, and 785 km, respectively.
It comes with rear-wheel steering, which turns the rear wheel opposite to the front ones when running at low speed to reduce the turning radius, and DiSus-A closed dual-chamber air suspension to ensure a smooth driving experience even on rough terrain with real-time suspension stiffness and also features adjustable ride height for better aerodynamics and practicality on the tough roads.
Both front seats are zero-gravity; there’s a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel, a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard, and a 26-inch augmented reality head-up display, which projects the driving data on the windshield. A five-person seating capacity is available in a 2-3 layout; all of them are heated and ventilated. Also features a panoramic glass roof to add premiumness.
Other notable features are the roof-mounted LiDAR-based God’s Eye B intelligent driving system featuring navigation autopilot for highway; a 50W two-wireless phone charging pad for phone charging convenience; a 24-speaker Dynaudio Evidence Platinum sound system for an immersive audio experience inside the cabin; electric soft-close doors; and four interior color options: Cloud Frost Rice, Dawn Rice, Misty Brown, and Night Purple.
