BYD Seal 08 Pre-Orders Open — One Version Claims 900 km Range

Build Your Dreams, the Chinese automobile manufacturer, has officially started the pre-sale of the BYD Seal 08, a premium sedan under the Ocean series, from June 12, 2026, in China. Drivers interested in owning the model may book; however, they haven’t revealed its price but expect it to start with a price starting from 250,000 yuan (31.10 lakh rupees).

Zhang Zhuo, the brand’s Ocean sales division general manager, himself announced the start of blind pre-orders for both electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle variants. The company is yet to disclose the date for launch; many reports suggest that the launch of this sedan will probably happen in July 2026. Let’s have a closer look at this sedan.

Split LED headlight setup, long wheelbase, and full-width LED taillights

BYD Seal 08 rear look

The Seal 08 from the BYD measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,505 mm in height. Comes with Ocean Aesthetics 2.0 design language and is set to be introduced in six colour options that are black, white, silver, purple, green, and red. At the front end, it boasts wave-shaped LED daylight running lights, bumper-integrated sharp LED headlights, a lower air intake, roof-mounted LiDAR, and BYD lettering below the hood.

Side features multi-spoke alloy wheels, a 3030 mm long wheelbase, flush-type hidden door handles, blacked-out window trim, a double-toned outside rear-view mirror with integrated side indicators, and a rear GET wave-like full-width LED taillight with illuminated BYD lettering at the centre, a sporty bumper with black cladding, a roof-integrated ducktail spoiler, and a large windscreen that is integrated with a glass sunroof.

Rear-wheel steering, double-chamber air suspension, and intelligent ADAS

The Seal 08 comes with rear-wheel steering, which moves the rear wheel in opposite directions of the front wheels when at slow speed to ensure smooth turning; and DiPilot 5.0, BYD’s latest ADAS, which works with cameras, radar, LiDAR, AI software, navigation data and a high-performance computing power chipset featuring Navigate-on-autopilot for both highway cruising and city driving.

Another notable premium feature is DiSus-A, BYD’s advanced air suspension system with two connected air chambers, which makes it capable of adjusting ride height depending on need and ensures comfort of occupants by automatically suspending the suspension depending on road surface, vehicle speed, steering input, braking and acceleration; it also reduces body roll and pitching.

Wireless charging pad, large infotainment system, and big boot space

BYD Seal 08 interior & Cabin

The Seal 08 comes with a seating capacity of 5 people in a layout of 2-3 and a three-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons for control on the side and the BYD letter at the centre, under which there’s a slim digital instrument cluster that shows all driving data and also features a gear selector. A large touchscreen infotainment system is equipped in the centre of the dashboard, which acts as the control panel of the cabin, as most of the settings are touch-based.

The centre console gets two wireless phone charging pads, which are added for the convenience of the driver and front-seat passengers. Behind the rear seats, there’s a large trunk to carry luggage. They haven’t revealed its volume; we expect that it will be above 600 litres. Not officially confirmed, but multiple reports suggest this sedan’s both front seats are ventilated, heated, and electrically adjustable with premium upholstery.

Long range, multiple drivetrain options, and quick acceleration

The Seal 08’s EV version is available with both single-motor RWD and double-motor AWD drivetrains, which deliver the power of 320 kW (429 hp) and 510 kW (684 hp), respectively. The RWD variant CLTC range is 900 kilometres, and the AWD variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and top speed goes up to 250 km/h.

On the other hand, the PHEV version gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine under the hood, which delivers the power of 115 kW (154 hp), and an electric motor on the rear axle with a power output of 200 kW (268 hp). Equipped with a 45.36 kWh LFP battery pack, the CLTC range is 400 kilometres, and the combined range is 1,000 kilometres.
