Tank, the premium off-road SUV brand owned by Great Wall Motor, has officially launched the all-new Tank 300, an off-road sport utility vehicle, with the plug-in hybrid electric powertrain in two variants. The first one is Hi4-T with a price of 249,800 yuan (35.47 lakh rupees); the second is Hi4-Z with a cost of 259,800 yuan (36.89 lakh rupees).
Notably, the launch price for both variants is 10,000 yuan (1.41 lakh rupees) less than the pre-sale amount. The automobile manufacturer is yet to confirm the date for the delivery, but it is expected in early August 2026. Its main rivals in the Chinese market are Fangchengbao Bao 5, Jetour Shanghai T2, Deepal G318, iCAR V27, and Haval Raptor Hi4.
As a PHEV, the all-new Tank 300 gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol ICE, which delivers the power of 130 kW (174.33 hp). The Hi4-T gets an e-motor on the front axle, whose power output is 130 kW (174 hp), and the Hi4-Z features one e-motor on the front and one on the rear that generates the maximum power of 180 kW (241 hp) and 200 kW (268 hp), respectively; the combined power output is 560 kW (751 hp).
The Hi4-T is available with a 9-speed hybrid automatic transmission, and the Hi4-Z with a 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. The drivetrain for the former one is non-decoupled 4WD and decoupled 4WD. To accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, the single-motor variant takes 6.1 seconds, and the double-motor trim takes 4.3 seconds.
The less powerful variant is equipped with a 37.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which gives the emission-free WLTC range of 105 km, and the combined range is 913 km; and the powerful trim features a 59.6 kWh LFP battery pack, giving the pure-electric range of 200 km on WLTP conditions, and its combined range is 1,122 km.
The variant equipped with the standard battery pack supports a DC charger up to 50 kW, which takes 24 minutes for 30 to 80 percent charging, and supports an AC charger up to 7 kW, which takes 6.5 hours for 15 to 100 percent charging. The DC and AC charging output and timings for the trim with the larger battery pack are still pending.
Dimensionally, it is 4,886 mm longer, 1,984 mm wider, and 1,927 mm taller. The wheelbase is 3,010 mm. For clarity, the wheelbase of the first, second, and fourth ones is longer by 210 mm, the third by 130 mm, and the fifth by 272 mm. It clearly, among the rivals, has the longest wheels, so it features a spacious cabin with ample legroom for all the occupants, which even makes a long drive convenient.
The all-new Tank 300 is built on a body-on-frame (ladder-frame), whose front suspension is a double-wishbone independent and rear is a multi-link live. All wheels have ventilated disc brakes and also feature an electronic parking brake with auto hold. For braking safety, it also comes with ABS, EBD, brake assist, and electronic stability control.
Features a vehicle-to-load up to 6 kW, which helps in running the external electric devices; Coffee Pilot 3, an advanced driver assistance system, which works with 27 sensors, including 1 LiDAR, 3 millimeter-wave radars, 11 HD cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars; and features Navigate on Autopilot. Notably, the front seat is ventilated, heated, and also powered with a memory function.
It has a 2.5-ton towing capacity. Inside, it gets a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel and a 15.6-inch floating 2.5K touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard with a Coffee GPT AI voice assistant and OTA (Over-the-Air) software updates. Other key features are dual-zone automatic climate control and a 50 W wireless phone charging pad.
