Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700 to Debut on July 24; Powerful Hybrid SUV Targets BYD Bao 5

The Geely Galaxy Cruiser 700, a full-size rugged plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicle, is set to make its global debut on July 24, 2026, in China. After the debut, it will make its appearance in Milan, Italy, on July 26, 2026. The market launch in China is anticipated in the second half of 2026 with the expected price between 350,000 yuan and 450,000 yuan, which translates to ₹49.73 lakh and ₹63.94 lakh.

The carmaker is all set to position it against the BYD Fangchengbao Bao 5, the GWM Tank 500, and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Dimensionally, it is 5,085 mm longer with a 2,900 mm wheelbase, 1,999 mm wider, and 1,912 mm higher. The heights are 1,895 mm and 1,925 mm. It is a five-seater sport utility vehicle, which has a large boot space behind the second row that helps in carrying the multiple big pieces of luggage conventionally.

Under the hood, it has a 205 kW (275 hp) 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine and one electric motor on the front axle and two on the rear axle; the motor on the rear axle is connected through a fluid-coupled locking mechanism. The combined power output is 830 kW (1,113 hp). Its drivetrain is all-wheel-drive, top speed is 220 km/h, and water-wading depth is 800 mm. 

Notably, an option of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo-petrol ICE, whose power output is 115 kW (154 hp). Motor setup and other details about this variant are still pending. Some reports suggest that it will get only two electric motors, one on axle, and features an AWD drivetrain. The transmission option for both 1.5 liter and 2.0 liter is Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. Its top speed is 200 kmph, 20 kmph less than the three-motor variant.

Equipped with differential locks, the power-to-weight ratio is 392 PS per tonne. Reportedly, they will introduce the model in 3 versions. Features a lithium-ion battery pack under the floor, giving the CLTC range between 165 km and 185 km. It gets roof-mounted LIDAR, a part of an intelligent driving assistant system, which features Navigation Auto for city driving and highway cruising.

It is built by Geely EEA 4.0, which supports intelligent vehicle dynamics and off-road functions. It comes with steer-by-wire technology, an advanced steering system, which replaces the mechanical connection between the front wheel and steering and does these things with the help of electronic signals, which ensures faster and more precise steering response and helps with easy parking.

The 1.5-liter internal combustion engine code is BHE15-CFZ; the same for the 2.0-liter is BHE20-EFZ. The Aurora Bay Technology company manufactured it. The battery packs are supplied by CATL, Jiangsu Times, and Zhongzhou Times; but the entity that has assembled it is Zhejiang Shanjui Battery.

The kerb weight for a 1.5-litre engine ranges from 2,405 kg to 2,605 kg, but for the same 2.0-litre engine, it is up to 2,805 kg. The maximum towing capacity is 1,600 kg for the variant with powerful ICE. Inside the cabin, it is all set to feature a three-spoke steering wheel with controls and the brand’s logo. Seats are set to get premium upholstery with premium stitching to enhance the cabin premiumness. 

Behind the steering wheel, it has a digital instrument cluster showing all driving data. The center of the dashboard features a touchscreen infotainment system with multiple-speaker premium sound system. Its centrally mounted screen is all set to support over-the-air software updates with connected car technology, wireless connectivity, and a voice assistant with artificial intelligence integration.
