Built Your Dream’s subsidiary company, Denza, has officially unveiled the Denza Bao 5, a plug-in hybrid electric off-road sport utility vehicle, for the European market at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The carmaker is all set to start the pre-order in late summer 2026, and then delivery will take place in the last quarter of 2026. They already have revealed the price; the Elegance costs £69,500, and the Ultimate will be available with the price of £78,880.
Following the European market launch, the Denza Bao 5 will compete with the Land Rover Defender 110, Toyota Land Cruiser, Ineos Grenadier, BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE. Notably, in the Chinese market, it is sold under the banner of Fangchengbao as Fangchengbao Bao 5, which costs starting from 259,800 yuan (£28,500), less than half of the Elegance variant price. Let’s have a closer look at this upcoming off-road PHEV.
Get a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood whose power output is 148 bhp (110 kW). Features two electric motors, one on each axle, generating the power of 536 bhp (400 kW) and peak torque of 760 Nm. Its drivetrain is all-wheel-drive. Under the floor, it gets a 31.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, giving it a pure-electric range of 90 km (56 miles) on the WLTP condition.

When the battery depleted, it gave the combined fuel efficiency of 26.4 mpg. The vehicle can reach the maximum speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). The acceleration timing for 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) is 4.8 seconds for the Elegance and 5 seconds for the Ultimate variant. The combined range is above 1,000 km. Support DC chargers up to 100 kW, which take 0 to 100 km/h in just 16 minutes.
The length, width, and height for the Denza Bao 5 are 4,888 mm, 1,970 mm, and 1,920 mm, respectively; its wheelbase is 2,800 mm, front and rear track are 1,670 mm, turning radius is 5.9 meters, and ground clearance is 220 mm. Notably, it features DiSus-P suspension in the Ultimate variant, which enables an adjustable ride height of 90 mm, meaning ground clearance can be increased to 310 mm.
Notably, the approach and departure angles for the Elegance variant are 35 degrees and 32 degrees, and the same for the Ultimate are 39 degrees and 34 degrees, respectively. Features a boot space of 475 liters behind the second row, which can be extended up to 1069 liters to make carrying big luggage convenient. The kerb weight of the affordable variant is 2,940 kg, and the same for the costlier one is 3,035 kg.

Inside, it has a four-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons on it for controls, under which there’s a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The center of the dashboard has a rotating touchscreen infotainment system with Google built-in features such as Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play Store. There’s also a 12.3-inch touchscreen before the co-passenger seat for entertainment purposes.
The infotainment system is integrated with an 18-speaker Devialet premium sound system to ensure an immersive audio experience inside the cabin for video and audio streaming. Front seats are ventilated, heated, and support massage functions for both variants, and the top trim also has heated and ventilated rear seats.

Other notable features are four USB charging ports for phone charging; two wireless phone charging pads in the Ultimate variant; a built-in refrigerator with cooling from -6°C to +6°C and warming from 35°C to 50°C to keep the beverage and drink for off-roading; a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade to enhance cabin comfort; and a head-up display that projects driving data on the windshield.
Outside, it has LED headlights with distinctive DRLs, horizontal-shaped LED taillights, up to 20-inch alloy wheels, electrically deployable side steps, mechanical door handles, a powered tailgate, roof rails, large A-pillar-mounted ORVMs, wheel arch cladding, a front and rear bumper with a silver skid plate for underbody protection, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
