Buick, an American automobile brand owned by General Motors, has started accepting pre-orders for the Buick Electra L7 EV, a full-size premium all-electric sedan, from July 24, 2026, with the payment of 1,000 yuan. The deadline to place the pre-order is August 19, 2026. Anyone who places it will get a discount of 5,000 yuan on the final payment.
The carmaker is yet to reveal the price; they will disclose it with the market launch, which is expected in the third week of August 2026. Reportedly, the price of the pure-electric Electra L7 is around 200,000 yuan, which translates to 28.51 lakh rupees. Following the launch, it will compete with the Xiaomi SU7, the BYD Han EV, and the NIO ET5.
As an all-electric sedan, it gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle. Since the motor is available in the wheels, it features an RWD variant. The electric motor is mated with a single-speed automatic transmission featuring a smooth driving experience. Notably, the e-motor delivers the power of 282 kW (378 hp), which helps it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds.
As per the company claims, this vehicle can reach the maximum speed of 220 km/h. Under the floor, it is equipped with the LFP battery pack, which is supplied by the CATL. The carmaker is yet to reveal the capacity of the battery pack, but it is most likely to give the CLTC range of 700 km. Built on 800-volt electrical architecture supporting 6C ultra-fast charging that adds the range of 450 km.
Available with a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 arrangement, which has a decent boot space behind the second row that is also expandable by folding the rear seat. The length, width, and height are 5,032 mm, 1,952 mm, and 1,500 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase, the distance between the axles, is 3,000 mm, the same as the Xiaomi SU7 but 80 mm longer than the BYD Han EV and 112 mm longer than the NIO ET5.
Outside, it has integrated LED headlights; the horizontal shape below the hood is a daylight running light, and the vertical shape houses both high beam and low beam. Below the hood, it also has the brand’s logo and a closed-off grille to enhance aerodynamics. Its features include active air intakes for cooling of electronics under the floor and roof-mounted LIDAR to make the driving autonomous.
Other notable features on the exterior are multi-spoke large alloy wheels, double-tone A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirrors, flush-type door handles, and flared wheel arches on the sides. The rear boasts a boot-hip-mounted spoiler, a full-width LED taillight, a roof-integrated rear windshield, black bumper cladding with a horizontal-shaped reflector, and a minimalistic rail gate.
Built on Xiao Yao’s modular NEV platform, whose front and rear suspension are double wishbone independent and multi-link independent. Both wheels get ventilated discs and feature an electronic parking brake. Also has an Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Electronic Stability Control, and other features.
The dashboard gets a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster before the driving seat and a 15.6-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system at the center, which runs on the Qualcomm SA8775P automotive cockpit processor and supports Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates. It also features a 50-inch panoramic augmented reality head-up display, projecting driving data on the windshield.
All seats come with premium leather upholstery; both front seats are ventilated and heated. They are also electronically adjustable, and the driver’s seat also supports memory function. Other notable features are multi-zone automatic climate control, rear AC vents, ambient interior lighting, a panoramic glass roof, a wireless phone charging pad, and USB charging ports.
