The German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has officially confirmed that the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLA electric, the all-electric version of Mercedes-Benz’s compact luxury sport utility vehicle, will make its global debut on July 29, 2026. It is expected to replace the Mercedes-Benz EQA, an all-electric compact luxury sport utility vehicle, which has been on sale since January 2021.
Reportedly, the upcoming one is built on Mercedes-Benz’s new MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform, which also underpins the latest CLA and GLB. Notably, the market lunch is expected to take place in late 2026 with the starting price of €51,000. Following the launch, it will compete with the BMW iX1, Audi Q4 e-tron, Volvo EX40, and Lexus UX 300e.
The carmaker may introduce the model in four variants: they are 200 EQ, 250 EQ, 250+ EQ, and 350 4MATIC EQ. The first three are all set to get a permanent magnet synchronous with a two-speed automatic gearbox featuring a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain, and the last one is an all-wheel-drive vehicle, which gets all from the RWD variant and also an induction motor on the front axle.
Reportedly, the power output for the first variant will be 224 PS, the second and third will deliver the power of 272 PS, and the fourth generates 354 PS. The peak torque for the first three is expected to be 335 Nm, and the same for the last one is 515 Nm. The top speed for all is anticipated to be 210 km/h, and the 0 to 100 km/h expected acceleration timing for the 200 EQ is 7.5 seconds, for the 250 EQ and 250 EQ+ is 6.7 seconds, and for the 350 4MATIC EQ is 4.9 seconds.
The first, second, third, and fourth variants are highly expected to be equipped with 58 kWh LPF, 71 kWh NMC, 85 kWh NMC, and 85 kWh NMC, respectively. Notably, the WLTP-certified expected range may be 542 km for the 200 EQ, 700 km for the 250 EQ, 792 km for the 250+ EQ, and 771 km for the 350 4MATIC EQ variant. Expected to support DC chargers from 250 kW to 320 kW, which may take 18 to 22 minutes for 10 to 80 percent charging.
Expected to get MacPherson struts as front suspension and multi-link as rear, all wheels are anticipated to feature ventilated discs for strong braking with better heat absorption. It is certain to get electric power steering and multiple features related to braking, including traction control, brake assist, electronic stability program, electronic brake force distribution, and anti-lock braking system.
Outside, it is expected to get slim LED headlights with a Mercedes-Benz star-shaped DRL to reflect the signature styling. Other features that its front-end may get are a sculpted front bumper with active air curtains and a closed black-panel grille for better aerodynamics. A horizontal air intake is anticipated on the lower portion to keep the battery pack, electric motor, and others cool.
On the sides, it may feature flush and retractable door handles to reduce aerodynamic drag and improve efficiency, pronounced wheel arches, aero-optimized alloy wheels, and black lower body cladding; and the rear is expected to boast a full-width LED taillight bar creating a wide stance, an integrated roof spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, and a diffuser-style lower bumper.
Inside, it is highly anticipated to get the MBUX superscreen, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard that will run on the Mercedes-Benz operating system. It may also feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, and navigation with electric vehicle route planning.
Other features that its cabin may include are a wireless phone charging pad, multiple USB Type-C charging ports, a panoramic glass sunroof, a premium Burmester surround sound system, powered, ventilated, and heated front seats, two-zone climate control, and a memory function driver seat.
