Chery iCar V25 EREV SUV to Preview on August 14 in Chengdu

The Chery iCaur V25, known by the name Chery iCar V25 in the Chinese market, is scheduled to be previewed on August 14, 2026, in Chengdu, revealing the specifications and features. Its core specifications are already available in the public domain because of its appearance in the China Ministry of Industry and Information Technology catalogue release for the vehicle, July 2026.

Following its appearance in the China MIIT filing, the carmaker has already released the official exterior images showing the design details. The images shared online by the manufacturer source show that it has round-shaped LED headlights, including headlamps and daylight running lights, giving it a modern and futuristic touch. The stylish bumper at the front enhances its appearance and makes it more appealing.

Its roof gets a LIDAR sensor, a part of an advanced driving assistance system that makes driving stress-free. The sides have wheel arch cladding to give a unique identity over the rivals, and its wheels are double-toned alloy. Reportedly, they will offer two different size options, 19-inch and 21-inch. Other notable features on the sides are semi-hidden door handles to reduce drag and improve efficiency and a running board for easier ingress and egress.

At the back it has a side-opening tailgate with mechanical door handles, and it also wants a spare wheel that can be used in case of need. Other notable features at the rear are a large windshield with a clear view of the traffic behind through the inside of their rearview mirror and horizontal-shaped LED taillamps to make the vehicle visible to other road users during the night, and a modern and rugged bumper with V25 lettering to reflect the branding.

In the previous report we have covered its spotting on public roads in China, whose spy shots reveal its interior. Notably, the Chinese car maker, Chery, has not yet released its interior image. It is a high possibility that they are organizing the preview event on August 14, 2026, to showcase its interior build anticipation regarding its launch among the public so that they can maximize sales figures.

No official information regarding its launch has been made public yet; however, we anticipate that pre-sales will begin immediately after the preview, followed by a market launch within a month. We expect the launch to take place in the last week of September 2026, though it remains to be seen whether this actually happens.

Dimensionally, it is 4,636 mm longer, 1,920 mm wider, and 1,855 mm taller. Its wheelbase, the distance between the axles, measures 2,820 mm. Features five people seated in 2-3 layouts: two individuals seated in the front row for co-passenger and driver and three in the second row in a bench-like structure.

It is still undisclosed whether the upcoming Chery iCaur V25 will come as a rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive drivetrain. If it comes as RWD, then it gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle with a one-speed automatic gearbox; if as AWD, then also an induction motor will be available on the front axle.

It is set to get an in-house built 1,499cc 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine, whose code is SQRH4J15, whose net power output is 105 kW (141 hp), and whose peak is 115 kW (154 hp). It will power the battery pack and electric motor when the battery charge is depleted.

The Gotion High-Tech-supplied 33.68 kWh LFP battery pack is mounted beneath the floor, which helps this EREV to run on pure-electric models up to 150 km on WLTC. One more EV range of 145 km is mentioned, hinting that the model will come in multiple variants. One more thing that strengthens this speculation is the fuel efficiency, which ranges from 1.52 to 1.54 liters per 100 km.
