BYD Da Han to Enter Pre-Sale on August 21 With BEV and PHEV Powertrains

BYD will start the pre-sale for the Da Han, its flagship sedan, on August 21, 2026, at the Chengdu Auto Show. The model is all set to make its debut in the Chinese market as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and battery electric vehicle. At the event, the carmaker will start the pre-sale by revealing the specifications, features, and price.

The EV is coming with rear-wheel drive and also as all-wheel drive with the power output of 370 kW (496 hp) and 570 kW (764 hp), respectively. The RWD variant will have an electric motor on the front axle featuring a top speed of 240 kmph, and AWD, all set to two, one on each axle, is 270 kmph.

They have an LFP battery pack of 102.326 kWh, which weighs 725.9 kg, giving them 970 km to 1,008 km for RWD and 820 km to 880 km for AWD trim. On the other hand, the PHEV has a 115 kW (154 hp) 1.5 L turbo-petrol ICE and an electric motor with a maximum output of 200 kW (268 hp).

It gets a 54.489 kWh LFP Blade Battery pack, whose EV mode range is 370 km. The drivetrain of which is rear-wheel-drive and transmission is E-CVT and reaches a top speed of 225 km. An option of two electric motors will also be available for sale, whose combined power output is 400 kW (536 hp). 

The kerb weight for BEV’s RWD trims is 2,260 kg to 2,325 kg, but the same for AWD is 2,505 kg. The PHEV that is only available with a RWD drivetrain has a kerb weight of 2,210 kg to 2,260 kg. Dimensionally, the BEV and PHEV are the same; their length, width, and height are 5,256 mm, 1,999 mm, and 1,510 mm, respectively, with the wheelbase of 3,130 mm.

Features 5 people are seated in 2-3 layouts, meaning the first row gets two separate seats and the second has three seats in a bench-like structure. Compared to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, this BYD sedan is 66 mm longer. Both the BEV and PHEV are equipped with next-generation Blade cells supporting ultra-fast charging, which takes 5 minutes for 10-80%.

Outside, it gets a full-width LED taillight in modern style; the main headlamps are placed just below the DRL strips on the side. Other details that we get to see on its front are a sculpted bonnet for a modern appearance and side air curtains in a vertical shape. Below the number plate holder, it has air intake.

Seen from the sides, the multiple-spoke alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, and hidden flush-type door handles are as follows, improving the side view. The fastback roofline, blacked-out pillars, front-door-mounted outside rear-view mirror, and ORVMs’ integrated blinkers. 

The rear has a roof-integrated windshield and a full-width taillight with a modern lighting signature. The diffuser-style bumper has an integrated horizontal-shaped reflector that illuminates at night and makes the vehicle visible to other drivers on the road even if the rear lights are turned off.

On the roof, it gets LiDAR, a part of DiPilot 5.0, BYD’s latest ADAS, which features navigation on autopilot for city driving and also for highway cruising, which makes the driving stress-free. Some of the key features that it gets are the BYD DiLink intelligent cockpit, rear-wheel steering, and active suspension.

The Chinese EV giant is yet to reveal its interior. Inside, it is anticipated to get an augmented reality head-up display, a wireless phone charging pad on the center console, a digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel, and an infotainment system at the center of the dashboard.
