Maruti e Vitara Starts ₹2L Cheaper Than Creta Electric And Outsells It 3.5x

As per May 2026 sales figures, a total of 1,591 units of Maruti Suzuki e Vitara have been sold out; the sales figure in April 2026 was 1,331. Compared to the previous month with a difference of 260, the e Vitara registered a month-on-month growth of 19.5%.

Notably, the E Vitara’s main rival in the India market is the Hyundai Creta Electric, whose only 450 units were sold in May 2026, but in April 2026 the sales figure was 548. Comparatively with the difference of 98 units, the Hyundai EV registered a month-on-month degrowth of 17.8%.

In April 2026, the sales figures of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara were 2.4 times those of the Hyundai Creta Electric, but in May 2026, it increased to 3.5 times, because buyers give more preference to the e Vitara compared to the Creta Electric.

Reportedly, with the sales of 1,591 Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, it has a market of 6.1%, while the Hyundai Creta Electric has only 1.7% with 450 sales in May 2026. Let’s have a closer look at each of these passenger EVs.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

The e Vitara from Maruti Suzuki is an all-electric five-seater, five-door mid-size SUV, which is available for sale in the Indian market in four variants. Refer to the table below to check the variant-wise ex-showroom.

The first variant is available with the LFP battery pack of 49 kWh, giving the ARAI-certified range of 440 km, and the last three with 62 kWh, which runs up to 582 km on each full charge, as per ARAI certification.

Notably, all variants are equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle, featuring front-wheel drive using a single-speed automatic transmission. Variants that are equipped with the standard battery pack deliver the power of 144 hp and peak torque of 193 Nm, but those with a large one do only 174 hp and 193 Nm.

To accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, the Delta takes only 9.6 seconds, but the Zeta, Alpha and Alpha Dual Tone take only 8.6 seconds, and the top speed for all variants is 150 kmph.

Hyundai Creta Electric

The Creta Electric from Hyundai Motors is also an all-electric five-seater five-door mid-size SUV. It is available for sale in the Indian market in 10 variants; check the ex-showroom price for each from the table below.

Its all-variant also comes from an axle-mounted PMSM featuring a front-wheel drive drivetrain using the one-speed automatic gearbox. Offered with two lithium iron phosphate battery packs that are 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh.

With the standard battery pack, it gives the MIDC a range of 420 kilometres, can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.7 seconds, goes up to the top speed of 170 kmph, generates the maximum power of 133 bhp, and delivers the peak torque of 255 Nm.

On the other hand, with the larger battery packs, it runs up to 510 kilometres, as per MIDC certification; can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds; reaches the speed of 180 kmph; delivers the power of 169 bhp; and generates peak torque of 350 Nm.
