The Xpeng Mona L05, the upcoming mid-size electric sport utility vehicle, has been spotted testing in China. The spy shots of the same are shared online by the Autohome, in which the car is undisguised. The spied image shows this upcoming SUV in metallic mint green.
Upfront, it has Y-shaped LED headlights integrating main headlamps and daylight running lights, a sculpted bonnet, a bumper-integrated air intake with horizontal slats, and blind spot monitoring cameras on the front fender and XPeng below the bonnet.
On the sides, it has semi-hidden door handles, round wheel arch cladding, lower body cladding, front-door-mounted outside rear-view mirrors, and yellow brake calipers. At the rear, it gets a spoiler that is mounted with the roof with a braking light, a full-width LED taillight, and black bumper cladding.
The spied image also reveals its interior. The cabin spy shots reveal that it has a two-spoke oval-shaped steering wheel with an XPeng logo and physical buttons, a phone charging pad on the center console, and a large touchscreen infotainment system at the center of the dashboard.
Other details that its interior image reveals are a gear shifter on the steering wheel column, two cup holders on the center console, and also a hidden compartment. There’s no digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel; it’s a clear indication that it will have a head-up display, which will project the driving data on the windshield.
All the cabin features are still pending; the carmaker will reveal them with the launch. China’s MIIT filing catalogue release has already revealed its core specifications. The length, width, and height of this car are 4,870 mm, 1,930 mm, and 1,636 mm, respectively.
Its wheelbase is 2940 mm, and two wheel sizes, 18 inch with 225/60 R18 tires and 20 inch with 245/45 R20, options are set to be available. The front and rear tracks are 1,640 mm and 1,658 mm, respectively. Now, it is official that the manufacturer will launch into the domestic market as both EREV and EV versions.
The former’s kerb weight is 1,930 kg and gross is 2,370 kg, and the latter’s is 1,990 kg and 2,440 kg. The EREV and EV both get a 183 kW (245 hp) permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle with a single-speed automatic transmission. The drivetrain for both is front-wheel drive, and top speed is 180 km/h.
The EREV gets a lithium-ion battery pack of 37.2 kWh, which gives a range of 237 km, 245 km, and 253 km, depending on the variant; and the EV is equipped with a 71.1 kWh unit, whose range is 615 km, 635 km, 640 km, and 660 km. The range is claimed in the CLTC condition.
For the EREV and EV versions, the battery suppliers are EVE Power and CALB, respectively. The EREV version does have a 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol-powered internal combustion engine, which powers the motor when the battery charge depletes.
Other confirmed details are a ventilated disc on the front wheel and a solid disc on the rear and electric power steering. The report suggests that the market launch in China for this SUV will take place in the last quarter of 2026, meaning they may launch it between October and December.
After launching this car in the domestic market, XPeng will introduce the same in the international market, the timeline for which is still pending. As of now, there’s no update on its price in China; we are expecting it to cost around 140,000 yuan, which is equivalent to 20,812 USD.
