In 2027, Maruti Suzuki will launch an electric MPV, which is internally codenamed as YMC. This upcoming electric vehicle has been spotted testing on public roads multiple times. The Indian automobile manufacturer is already selling an electric car, the e-Vitara, in the Indian market with a seating capacity of 5 people; the upcoming one is set to be available with 7 seats.
The nameplate for the imminent electric seven-seater under the banner of Maruti Suzuki is still pending; the carmaker will disclose it near the launch. They have officially confirmed that the seven-seater set is to underpin the HEARTECT-e architecture, the same used for the only pure-electric model already on sale in India. Maruti Suzuki Electric MPV Coming in 2027
Any official date for the Maruti Suzuki Electric multi-purpose vehicle isn’t yet confirmed. Maruti Suzuki will launch this car most probably in the first quarter of 2027. It has already been spotted testing on public roads multiple times, but every single time in heavy camouflage. The spied image shows that this e-car has a long wheelbase to provide ample space for all occupants and decent ground clearance to make it pass the road with potholes.
The details that have emerged after the multiple sightings are integrated headlights, sculpted bumper and bonnet, flared wheel arch, pull-type door handles, an A-pillar-mounted outside rear view mirror with a side indicator, a full-width LED taillight, a higher-mounted braking light, and rear bumper integrated horizontal reflectors. The wheel size is still uncertain; the spied image of the test mule hints of up to 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.
What else do we know about the Maruti Suzuki e-MPV?
Maruti Suzuki hasn’t confirmed any details regarding its powertrain, but reports suggest it comes with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with single-speed automatic transmission on the rear axle featuring a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain. Two battery packs are anticipated, offering standard and long range in order to give options to Indian buyers to choose from depending on the need.
Its cabin will have 7 seats in a 2-3-2 layout with a small cargo capacity behind the third row. This electric MPV is expected to be launched with smart premium features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless smartphone connectivity, ventilated front seats for enhanced seating comfort, multiple-zone climate control maintaining the cabin’s temperature, and a level 2 ADAS suite for enhanced safety.
The launch of this three-row electric MPV will add the second model in the EV segment; in the brand’s portfolio, this e-car will be placed above the e-Vitara. Like the specifications and features, its pricing is still uncertain. We are expecting it to go on sale with the starting ex-showroom price of ₹25 lakh. After launch, it will compete with the VinFast VF MPV 7, Mahindra XUV 9S, MG Hector Tomahawk EV, and the upcoming Tata Safari EV.

A permanent magnet synchronous motor is available on the front axle, giving 144 PS and 174 PS with standard and large battery packs, respectively.

In August 2026, the carmaker registered a MoM degrowth of 15.6% with 260 fewer sales.
