A launch of five different sub-4-metre passenger EV models is slated for the second half of 2026 and first quarter of 2027. These upcoming sub-4-metre electric cars are the Kia Syros EV, the Hyundai HE1i, the VinFast VF3, the VinFast VF5, and the MG Binguo EV. Let’s have a closer look at each of these upcoming passenger electric vehicle models.
Kia Syros EV

Kia may launch the Kia Syros EV in August 2026; they are expected to introduce it to the Indian market with the ex-showroom price ranging from 14 to 18 lakh rupees. Following the launch, it will compete with Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and MG Windsor EV. Set to come are two different lithium-ion battery packs that may be 42 and 49 kWh.
Reportedly, the vehicle will get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle; the setup will make it a front-wheel-drive drivetrain. In terms of exterior and interior, the car is anticipated to be quite similar to its ICE sibling. We expect that it will come with a closed-off front fascia, tweaked headlights and rear lights, and upgraded bumpers.
Hyundai HE1i

Hyundai will soon launch an all-electric sub-4-metre SUV; the production name is still pending, but reports suggest that it is codenamed as ‘HE1i’. The launch is anticipated by early 2027. As of now, there are no updates on price; we expect that they will introduce a car with the ex-showroom price starting from ₹12 lakh that may go up to ₹16 lakh.
The vehicle is built on Hyundai E-GMP (K) architecture; many sources say that the carmaker will also offer it with two LFP battery packs, 42 and 49 kWh; however, there’s no official confirmation regarding it. One thing is confirmed: it will also get a PMSM using a single-speed automatic gearbox on the front axle featuring a FWD drivetrain.
VinFast VF3

VinFast is planning to introduce a new passenger EV model, the VinFast VF3, by the festive season, meaning we may see its launch in November 2026. The Vietnamese automobile manufacturer will disclose the price with launch; reports suggest it will cost ex-showroom 7.5 to 10 lakh rupees. The vehicle will come with a four-person seating configuration in a 2-2 layout, which may give tough competition to the MG Comet EV.
The car is available for sale overseas; it is offered with an 18.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack giving the NEDC range of 215 kilometres. Equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, meaning it features a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain. The motor generates the maximum power of 32 kW (42 hp) and peak torque of 110 Nm (81 lb-ft). India launch is anticipated with the specifications without any upgrades.
VinFast VF5

VinFast will introduce VinFast VF5 in the first quarter of 2027, many reports claim its launch by Diwali 2026, but it is very unlikely, because its sibling, VinFast VF3, is highly anticipated to make its debut in that timeline in India. Its price is still uncertain; the carmaker may introduce it in the Indian market with the ex-showroom price between 11 and 15 lakh rupees.
It features a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout with boot space of 260 litres and gets a 37.23 kWh LFP battery pack, thanks to which the car runs up to 326 km on the WLTP cycle after each full charge. The front axle is mounted with a PMSM featuring FWD drivetrain; the electric motor generates 100 kW (134 hp) power and 135 Nm (100 lb-ft) torque.
MG Binguo EV

MG will introduce the MG Binguo EV to the Indian market most probably in 2027’s first quarter and will sit between the MG Comet EV and MG Windsor EV. They are expected to launch it with the ex-showroom price between 11 and 14 lakh rupees; following the launch, it will compete with the recently previewed Citroen eC3 X and other sub-4-metre EVs in the segment.
It is expected to compete with two different lithium-ion battery packs that are 31.9 kWh and 37.9 kWh, whose range is 333 km and 410 km, respectively. Notably, both come with a single-motor FWD configuration, and the motors generate 67 hp power and 125-150 Nm torque. The top speed for both battery pack configurations is 120 kmph.
