The all-new BYD Seal 07 is an upcoming sedan. It is the fourth vehicle from the Chinese electric vehicle maker Build Your Dreams in the brand’s Ocean Series after the Seal 05, Seal 06, and Seal 08. The imminent new-gen Seal 07 is set to be positioned between the Seal 06 and Seal 08, meaning it will be costlier than the former and cheaper than the latter; the price will be revealed with the launch.
In the Chinese market, this upcoming vehicle will compete with the Toyota bZ7, Xpeng P7, Geely Galaxy E8, Zeekr 007, and Xiaomi SU7. The MIIT filing catalogue release has already revealed the core specifications for this e-car; it is a full-size vehicle that is set to be equipped with the in-house-built BYD Blade 2.0 lithium-ion battery, ensuring ultra-fast charging and better range.
Note that this full-size sedan from BYD will go on sale with both all-electric and plug-in hybrid electric powertrains. The former one is set to be known by the name of BYD Seal 07 EV, and the latter with the BYD Seal DM-i. Reports suggest that both versions will go on sale in China simultaneously, giving options to buyers to choose from. Let’s have a closer look at this upcoming BYD sedan.
EV and DM-i powertrains.
The BYD Seal 07 as EV will go on sale in two variants that are standard and long range. The former one will get a permanent magnet synchronous motor, TZ205QYS, with 1-speed automatic transmission that delivers 245 kW (329 hp) power. It gets power from a 76.744 kWh battery pack, whose CLTC range is 775 km (636 km WLTP) and top speed is 240 km/h.
The latter of the EV also gets a PMSM, but its model is TZ205QYD; it is also mated with a single-speed automatic reduction gearbox. It has an 88.682 kWh battery pack, which helps with delivering 300 kW (408 hp) power, 75 kW (79 hp) more. Its top speed is also 240 km/h, and the CLTC range is 875 km (718 km WLTP). The drivetrain for both EV versions is rear-wheel-drive, because the battery is available on the rear axle.
On the other hand, the PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) gets a 115 kW (154 hp) 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine and a 160 kW (215 hp) permanent magnet synchronous motor, TZ210XYC, under the hood. Its drivetrain is front-wheel-drive, but the transmission detail is still undisclosed.
In EV mode, the motor gets power from a 38.029 kWh battery pack that helps it to run up to 245 km on CLTC condition after each full charge, and it has a maximum speed of 190 kmph. Its top speed is 190 kmph. When the battery charge for the PHEV version depletes, it automatically switches to hybrid mode and runs, getting power from the ICE, with a fuel efficiency of 4.25 liters per 100 km.

The upcoming BYD Seal 07 has BYD Ocean Aesthetics 2.0, whose length, width, and height are 5,080 mm, 1,960 mm, and 1,495 mm, respectively. The wheelbase is 2,960 mm. The EV and PHEV, both versions, have a seating capacity of 5 people in a 2-3 layout with spaciousness; the around 3-meter-long wheelbase gives the long wheelbase for all.
Compared to the outgoing sedan, the upcoming new generation is 85 mm longer with 60 mm more wheelbase and 50 mm wider. Since there are dimensional changes for this upcoming all-new model of the existing model, it will provide more comfortable seating. The curb weight for the all-electric version is 1,975 kg to 2,060 kg, and the same for the plug-in hybrid electric trim is 1,960 kg.
Other revealed details.
Since the second-generation Blade Battery pack is used for both powertrains, it will take only 5 minutes for 10 to 70 percent charging and only 9 minutes for up to 97 percent. Even in case of extreme weather conditions, it will take only 12 minutes for 20 to 97 percent charging. The company says that the battery pack weight is 539 kg and 618.6 kg for the standard and long-range versions, respectively.
