The Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric mid-size SUV launch date is confirmed as November 4, 2026. Mercedes-Benz India will launch in a single variant, the 400 4Matic, with a large battery pack, decent real-world range, and fast charging to tackle range anxiety.
Mercedes-Benz India has officially confirmed the date for the launch of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric. This mid-size all-electric SUV is all set to go on sale in the Indian market from November 4, 2026. The Indian subsidiary of the luxury German carmaker has officially confirmed that they are going to start the booking for it in October 2026.
The date for the launch is officially confirmed by the carmaker, but they are yet to reveal whether it will be launched by an event or not; reports suggest that Mercedes-Benz India will host an event to showcase this model and launch it by revealing the price and all the specifications and features. Delivery-related details will also be announced at the launch.
It is worth noting that the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric is coming as a locally assembled vehicle, not as a CBU. The German automobile manufacturer has confirmed that they are going to assemble it in Pune at the Chakan plant shortly after the launch, so delivery is expected to begin within a few days after its market launch in India.
The variant of the Mercedes-Benz GLC electric coming to India is the 400 4Matic, which is already available for sale in the international market with the 70 kWh lithium-ion battery pack giving 700 km of range on WLTP condition. One that is coming to India will have the same battery back, but the range on ARAI-certified condition may vary slightly.
Reports suggest that the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric 400 4Matic for the Indian market is going to have the same powertrain that is offered for the international variant, meaning there will be two electric motors, one on each axle. The one available on the front axle is going to be an induction, and the rear one will be the permanent magnet synchronous.
Availability of an electric motor confirms that this upcoming Mercedes-Benz vehicle will have an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. The international-spec model delivers 490 hp and 800 Nm, making 0 to 100 kmph acceleration possible in just 4.3 seconds. Charging capabilities for this EV are also expected to remain the same as the one sold overseas.
Reports confirm that it will use a 330 kW DC charger that can add 300 km of WLTP range with just 10 minutes of charging. Exterior design and dimension are said to be together with the international model. Outside, it will have cladding around the wheel arches, LED headlights, pronounced roof rails, a sculpted bonnet, and a through-type full-width LED taillight.
The length, width, and height of 4,845 mm, 1,913 mm, and 1,644 mm, respectively, are confirmed; even its wheelbase and wheel size are disclosed. The former one is 2,972 mm, enhancing high-speed stability, and the latter is 21 inches, improving road presence. 5 seats in a 2-3 layout, and 570 liters of boot space will also be offered.
Its cabin will have tons of smart features enhancing the convenience and practicality for not only the driver and co-passenger but also rear-sitting occupants. The features that we are going to see inside the cabin are the Sky Control Panoramic Glass Roof, the Burmester 4D Surround Sound System, and the 39.1-inch MBUX Hyperscreen.
By launching the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric, Mercedes-Benz India is going to expand the all-electric powertrain vehicle lineup and also strengthen its positioning in the mid-size luxury SUV segment. Following the launch, this electric car will compete with the Tesla Model Y, Audi Q6 e-tron, BMW iX3, and Volvo EX60.
