Leapmotor's First MPV D99 Launched: BEV + EREV, 700km Range

On June 25, 2026, Leapmotor launched the Leapmotor D99, a multi-purpose vehicle, as a battery electric vehicle and extended-range electric vehicle for the Chinese market. Both the EREV and BEV are available for sale in three variants. The delivery for all variants is all set to start from July 20, 2026. Its main rivals in China are Denza D9, Zeekr 009, and Xpeng X9.

The three variants of EREV are 480 Enjoy Edition, 480 Smart Edition, and 480 Flagship Edition, whose prices are ¥249,800 (₹3,497,200), ¥279,800 (₹3,917,200), and ¥309,800 (₹4,337,200), respectively; on the other hand, the three variants of BEV are 700 Enjoy Edition with the cost of ¥259,800 (₹3,637,200), 700 Smart Edition with ¥289,800 (₹4,057,200), and 700 Flagship Edition of ¥319,800 (₹4,477,200).

The EREV gets a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood and two electric motors, one on each axle. Its drivetrain is all-wheel drive, and transmission is single-speed automatic. The combined power output of the motor is 300 kW (402 hp). Equipped with an LFP battery pack of 80.3 kWh, giving the pure-electric CLTC range of 480 km, it supports DC charging up to 800 volts.

On the other hand, the EV gets two electric motors, one on the front axle and the other on the rear axle, which generate the peak power of 180 kW (241 hp) and 230 kW (308 hp), respectively. It comes with a single-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. Combinedly, they generate a crank up to 410 kW (550 hp). Get an 115 kWh NCM-LFP “Super Hybrid” battery pack giving 700 km CLTC range, supporting a DC charger up to 1000 volts that can add 350 km CLTC range with just 15 minutes of charging.

Available with 5 exterior color options that are photoelectric white, liquid silver, Chenjing blue, skyscape gray, and metallic black. In terms of length, width, and height, it measures 5,280 mm, 1,995 mm, and 1,880 mm, respectively. Features a seating capacity of 7 people in a 2-2-3 layout; its wheelbase is 3,110 mm, giving ample legroom for all. Behind the third row, there’s a boot space of 706 liters for carrying the luggage, which is expandable to 2,890 liters by folding the third-row seats.

Outside, it has a rounded “bullet-head” front-end design with a full-width LED daytime running light, million-pixel DLP projection headlights, a closed-off grille, roof-mounted LIDAR, a sculpted front bumper with an integrated intake for cooling of electronics, powered sliding doors, flush-type door handles, black front door-integrated ORVMs, silver trim extending towards the D-pillar, 19-inch chrome-plated pie-shaped alloy wheels, a 1.46 m² panoramic sunroof, a full-width LED taillight, LEAPMOTOR lettering on the tailgate, and a rear bumper-integrated side reflector.

The cabin is available with three color options that are cloud gray, brown, and rain gray. Inside it gets a four-spoke steering wheel with a Leapmotor logo and physical buttons, under which there’s a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The center of the dashboard is equipped with a 17.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with OTA software updates, AI integration, and wireless multi-device connectivity. It also features a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display that projects driving data on the windshield.

In the second row, it gets zero-gravity aviation seats with heating, ventilation, and massage functions and lumbar, leg, and foot support. For entertainment of rear-seat occupants is a 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted display that is controlled via a 6-inch multifunction control screen placed on the rear portion of the center console. Other notable features are foldable trays, a wireless phone charging pad, and multiple storage compartments.
