BYD Denza Z9S Pre-Sales Begin August 3: 920 km Range, 1,194 hp, Flash Charging

Denza, a premium luxury new energy vehicle brand that comes under Build Your Dreams, will start the presale for the Denza Z9S, a full-size luxury battery electric sedan, on August 3, 2026, for the Chinese market. The market launch will take place in September 2026, and then delivery will begin within four weeks, most likely in October 2026. 

As of now, there’s no update on price; we are expecting it to cost between 300,000 yuan and 350,000 yuan (₹42.47 lakh to ₹49.55 lakh). The carmaker has already revealed its exterior and interior. Notably, the model will make its debut in the Chinese market as a battery electric vehicle with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive drivetrains. 

The RWD variant gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle that is mated with single-speed automatic transmission. The AWD gets an induction motor on the front axle and two permanent magnet synchronous motors on the rear, which independently move the wheels; they are bolted with the one-speed automatic gearbox.

Notably, the power output of the single-motor variant is 370 kW (496 hp), and the triple-motor is 890 kW (1,194 hp). They both are equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery pack, whose capacity is 102.326 kWh, which gives the CLTC range of 920 km and 780 km for the wing and AWD variants, respectively. 

Built on 800-volt high-voltage electrical architecture supporting BYD flash charging, which takes 5 minutes for 10 to 70 percent charging and 10 to 97 in 9 minutes. As per the company claims, even in case of extreme cold, such as -30 degrees Celsius, it takes only 12 minutes for 20 to 97 percent charging, which is useful for Northern China.

Its dimensions are 5,090 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height. Its wheelbase is 3,025 mm. Comes with 5 people seating capacity with 2-3 layouts. Following the launch, it will compete with NIO ET7, Tesla Model S, and Xiaomi SU7.

Notably, the Denza Z9S is the third model in the Z9 family. The Denza Z9, a 4-door luxury sedan, and the Denza Z9 GT, a 5-door shooting brake, are available for sale in the Chinese market in three variants: Pro, Max, and Ultra, which cost 269,800 yuan (₹32.3 lakh), 319,800 yuan (₹38.3 lakh), and 369,800 yuan (₹44.3 lakh), respectively.

They both are built on the e³ platform and available for sale as battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. The BEV comes with both single-motor RWD and triple-motor AWD drivetrains, the power output of which is 370 kW (496 hp) and 850 kW (1,140 hp), respectively. Equipped with a 102.3 kWh Blade Battery pack, giving the CLTC range of 920 km and 780 km, respectively.

BYD Denza Z9S Rear Design

The PHEV gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine and permanent magnet synchronous motor under the hood, which is mated with a dedicated hybrid transmission, and also has two P4 electric motors on the rear axle. The ICE generates the power of 152 kW (204 hp), the front motor does 200 kW (268 hp), and each rear motor delivers 220 kW (295 hp). 

The combined power output is 640 kW (858 hp). Features 63.82 kWh. Blade battery pack giving the emission-free CLTC range of 410 km. The combined range, when the battery pack is fully charged and the fuel tank is also full, is 1,301 km. Its WLTC fuel efficiency is 0.4 liters per 100 km when the battery pack is fully charged and only 6.3 liters per 100 km when the battery pack is depleted.
