The delivery of BYD’s Linghui M9, a seven-seater plug-in hybrid electric multipurpose vehicle for fleet operators, in showrooms across China has already started. The Linghui, a sub-brand under Build Your Dream, which makes vehicles for commercial fleet businesses, is expected to launch the model in the domestic market very soon.

The carmaker is yet to unveil the date on which they will introduce it in China. Notably, within two to three weeks after the arrival of models in the showrooms. So, it is expected that they will launch it by mid-July 2026. Pricing is also undisclosed; many reports suggest that it will be available with a price between 180,000 and 230,000 yuan.

Powertrain and performance

The Linghui M9 is built on BYD’s fifth-generation dual-mode technology, featuring a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood, which delivers the power of 154 hp and torque of 225 Nm.

On the front axle, it gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor within an electronic continuously variable transmission, which cranks 268 hp power and 315 Nm torque. Its 0 to 100 kmph acceleration timing is 8.1 seconds, and its top speed is 190 kmph.

Since the electric motor is mounted on the front axle, it features a front-wheel drive drivetrain. Equipped with a 20.39 kWh lithium-ion BYD Blade battery pack giving the CLTC range of 100 kilometers, the combined range is above 1,060 kilometers.

Suspension and braking

The M9 from Linghui is equipped with DiSus-C, an intelligent damping body control system, which has many sensors that track speed, acceleration, steering angle, and braking force to adjust suspension stiffness automatically and ensure a comfortable driving experience even on the rough roads.

All wheels get disc brakes to ensure powerful braking and better heat absorption. It also features an anti-locking braking system and electronic brake force distribution, which prevents the wheel from locking at the time of sudden braking and distributes the braking force equally among the wheels so the vehicle stops with proper stability.

Dimensions and design
