831hp Off-Roader, 4.5s to 100, 1,350km Range: Hongqi G919 Officially Named

Hongqi, the Chinese luxury automotive brand under the FAW Group, has officially named its first off-road sport utility vehicle, G919, after debuting it at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. They will introduce this off-road four-wheeler in the domestic market with the extended-range electric powertrain.

The upcoming off-road SUV from Hongqi was internally named P567, but now, its name is G919, where G represents China’s traditional national car, the first 9 refers to flagship positioning, 1 reflects its top-tier performance, and the second 9 symbolizes long-term service support. Let’s have a closer look.

Quad motor setup and good emission-free range

The G919 gets a 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine under the hood and one motor on each wheel, featuring an all-wheel-drive drivetrain. Notably, the engine acts as a generator to power the motors that run the wheels. Combined, the motors and engine deliver the maximum power of 831 hp and peak torque of 1,320 Nm.

Reportedly, the acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 4.5 seconds, equipped with a 63 kWh ternary lithium battery pack giving the emission-free range of 280 km, and with the fuel tank of 85 liters, it runs up to 1,070 km, meaning the combined range is 1,350 km. The top speed and charging details are still pending; they may be revealed with the launch.

High ground clearance and large boot space anticipated

Dimensionally, the G919 is 5,135 mm longer, 2,050 mm wider, and 1,950 mm taller. Features a seating capacity of 5 individuals in a layout of 2-3, and thanks to a wheelbase of 2,900 mm, each rear-seating passenger is set to have large legroom to sit comfortably.

The ground clearance, also referred to as ride height, is anticipated to be more than 200 mm so it easily moves on rough terrain. Behind the second row, it gets a big trunk that can be used for carrying multiple pieces of big luggage; however, it is still pending what its volume is.

Modern LED lighting and large wheels

Upfront, the G919 features a large waterfall-style grille with vertical slats, round-shaped matrix LED headlights surrounded by the daylight running lights, a rugged bumper with large air intakes and fog lights, and a roof-integrated light detection and ranging unit.

In profile, the SUV gets mechanical door handles, wheel arch cladding, a double-toned powered outside rear-view mirror with integrated side indicators, large alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, racks spreading across the roof, blacked-out window trim, and an electrically adjustable running board.

At the back, it comes with a side-opening tailgate with an externally mounted spare wheel that can be replaced with the one that got punctured or burst, a parking light on top of the windshield, a chromed rugged bumper, and LED taillamps under the D-shaped housing.

Adjustable ground clearance and intelligent ADAS

The G919 is equipped with the triple differential lock on the front, center, and rear to ensure better grip on all types of terrain; built on a body-on-frame design using the non-monocoque chassis, which improves its off-road capabilities; and features air suspension on the axle, ensuring a comfortable driving experience and adjustable ground clearance.

Get the Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 5 intelligent driving assistant system supporting navigation autopilot for both conditions, urban roads and highways; emergency assistance 2.0; vehicle parking driver; and parking spot-to-parking spot 3.0 using the roof-mounted 2160-line digital lidar sensor, which is capable of identifying minimum 14 cm high obstacles from the distance of 120 meters.
