Hongqi Tiangong 08 pre-sale opens with 800V charging and a 257kW motor

Hongqi, the premium luxury vehicle brand of FAW Group, has finally started the pre-sale for updates of the Hongqi Tiangong 08 670 Max, a mid-to-large all-electric sport utility vehicle, with a promotional price of 179,800 yuan (₹25.20 lakh). Once the offer ends, the carmaker will increase the price by 20,000 yuan (₹20.80 lakh), meaning it will then cost 280,000 yuan (₹28.00 lakh).

They will launch this vehicle for the domestic market in early August 2026, and a few days after, the delivery will begin. Reportedly, the sales price is expected to be lower than the one with which the pre-sale is taking place. Following the launch, it will compete with the Tesla Model Y, the Xiaomi YU7, the Zeekr 7X, the Aito M7, and the Nio ES6.

This vehicle is built on Tiangong architecture, featuring both rear-wheel drive and a drivetrain. It gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a one-speed automatic gearbox on the rear axle. The motor generates the maximum power of 257 kW and peak torque of 450 Nm, which helps it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 8 seconds, and it can reach the maximum speed of 200 km/h.

Equipped with an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the floor, which gives the CLTC range up to 670 km. The real world is expected to be around 520 km. Notably, its electrical architecture is 800 volts, and it supports 4C charging, which is capable of charging this vehicle from 10 to 80 percent within 15 minutes. Only 10 minutes of charging can add 323 km claimed range.

The front and rear suspensions are double wishbone and five-link, respectively, featuring adaptive air suspension for ride height adjustment and continuous damping control to ensure better comfort on any type of road with real-time suspension adjustment.

All wheels get ventilated discs for powerful braking and electronic parking brakes for convenience. To ensure better safety, it has an anti-locking braking system, electronic brake force distribution, electronic stability control, and a traction control system. In terms of dimensions, the length is 4,925 mm with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, the height is 1,680 mm, and the weight is 1,950 mm. 

Outside, it features a split headlight setup; the daylight running light is available above in a horizontal shape and the main headlamps in a vertical shape on the bumper, creating an L shape; sculpted front bumper and lower air intakes; flush-type door handles; wheel arch cladding; and front-door-mounted black outside rear-view mirrors.

Other notable features on its exterior are large alloy wheels, Pirelli P ZERO E high-performance tires, a full-width LED taillight on the tailgate that connects with the through-type LED taillamps, a roof-integrated spoiler just above the rear windshield, a minimalist tailgate, and a rugged bumper with a side reflector. 

Comes with 5 people seating capacity in a 2-3 layout with 643 liters that is expandable to 1,998.5 liters by folding rear seats. Get a two-spoke steering wheel with a slim digital instrument cluster under the same and two 15.6-inch integrated touchscreen infotainment systems that sit in the center of the dashboard and run towards the dashboard, visible before the co-passenger seats.

It also has a 65.5-inch augmented reality head-up display, which projects the driving data on the windshield so one driving keeps an eye on the road and drives safely. Other notable features are 256-color ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charging pad, ventilated, heated, and electronically adjustable front seats, and seats with leatherette upholstery.
