The Volkswagen ID. AURA T6, a mid-size sport utility vehicle, launch date is officially confirmed by the FAW-Volkswagen, the JV between Volkswagen and First Automobile Works. The joint venture between Volkswagen and FAW has officially confirmed that they will launch the VW ID. AURA T6 electric SUV on September 20, 2026. The market launch is all set to take place exactly three weeks after the pre-sale start. It is still uncertain that they will launch the electric car by organising an event or just via the press release.

A few reports suggest that Volkswagen will launch the Volkswagen ID. AURA T6 by organising an event, which will begin around the evening. If the event is organised, they won’t only announce the price but also showcase the car, explaining all the core specifications and features.

The Volkswagen ID. AURA T6 will go for sale in the Indian market in four variants, which are 540 Pro, 660 Pro, 660 Max, and 660 Ultra. The length, width, and height of this car are 4,811 mm, 1,879 mm, and 1,648 mm, respectively, whose wheelbase measures 2,836 mm. Features a seating capacity of 5 people in 2-3 layouts. Two wheel size options, 19-inch and 20-inch, are set to be available.

Get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle that is mated with a single-speed automatic transmission, which delivers 170 kWh of power. Since the motor is present on the rear axle, it features a rear-wheel-drive drivetrain. Two lithium-iron phosphate battery packs, 59.9 kWh and 77.5 kWh, are certain, giving the 540 km and 640 km ranges on CLTC conditions, respectively.

This car underpins the Xpeng’s China Electronic Architecture that uses central computing and zonal control architecture supporting continuous OTA updates, remote vehicle control, and Sentry Mode. The last two variants are set to be equipped with the Carizon intelligent-driving system with 192-channel LiDAR that is powered by the Horizon Robotics Journey 6H computing platform. 

Its cabin has a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 25.8-inch AR-HUD; they all run on a 4-nm cockpit processor that has 20 TOPS of cockpit computing power. The central mounted screen is integrated with Wireless Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Carlink. With a 18-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system, it ensures an immersive audio experience.

Outside, it gets Slim headlights to illuminate the road for nighttime driving, an active lower air intake to enhance aerodynamics, a sculpted bonnet to add a modern appearance to its front-end look, semi-hidden door handles to reduce aerodynamic drag in order to enhance efficiency, and a 90-litre frunk to enhance practicality for small items.

In the last eight months, FAW-Volkswagen has sold a total number of 709,274 cars, including 132,300 in January, 78,503 in February, 107,434 in March, 74,800 in April, 83,900 in May, 81,012 in June, 73,408 in July, and 77,872 in August. Last month the sale decreased by 1.43% with 1,131 fewer sales on a month-on-month basis and increased by 6.08% with 4,464 more sales on a year-on-year basis.
