Volkswagen ID. Aura T6 Pre-Orders Open: RWD Electric SUV With AR-HUD & Dolby Atmos

On July 31, 2026, FAW-Volkswagen, the joint venture between Volkswagen AG and FAW Group, started the blind pre-order for the Volkswagen ID. Aura T6, a pure-electric mid-size sport utility vehicle, in China. It is built on CEA (China Electronic Architecture) with a seating capacity of 5 people in 2-3 layouts. The market launch is expected to take place in August 2026, and September 2026 may mark the beginning of the delivery of the model.

The carmaker hasn’t yet confirmed anything about its pricing. Following the launch in the Chinese market, it is expected to compete with the Tesla Model Y, Xpeng G7, BYD Sea Lion 07 EV, Zeekr 7X, and Onvo L60. Their starting price ranges from 149,900 yuan to 263,500 yuan (₹21.16 to ₹37.20 lakh), so we are anticipating that this upcoming EV from the FAW-Volkswagen will cost between 150,000 and 250,000 yuan (₹21.71 lakh to ₹35.19 lakh).

The length, width, and height of the Volkswagen ID. Aura T6 is 4,811 mm, 1,879 mm, and 1,648 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,836 mm, drag coefficient is 0.245 Cd, front trunk storage is 90 liters, and wheel size options are 19-inch and 20-inch in diameter. As a five-seater pure-electric vehicle, it features ample boot space behind the second row, which helps in carrying multiple pieces of big luggage conventionally.

Available with six exterior color options, including First Snow White, Lark Grey, Distant Mountain Green, Sunset Purple, Galaxy Blue, and Pearl White; and three interior themes that include Cloud Shadow Grey, Velvet Light Beige, and Honey Light Orange. Notably, they have introduced multiple exterior and interior color options to make it more appealing to buyers over the competitors, so one can choose the option that suits them.

Outside, it features a slim, full-width LED daylight running light just below the hood. Notably, on the corner above the DRLs strip, it has horizontal-shaped LED headlights to illuminate the road for night driving. There’s a Volkswagen logo at the center of the DRL strip to reflect branding. Other notable features on its exterior are the bumper-integrated active air intakes that keep the electronic part cool and side air curtains just to the right and left of the bumper plate holder to ensure better airflow.

The sides have both wheel arches and lower body cladding. Semi-hidden flush-type door handles are added to reduce drag and improve efficiency; it also improves the side view. The ORVMs that integrate with blinkers are mounted on the front door, and roof rails are clearly visible from the side that help in carrying luggage on the roof by mounting. Double-toned alloy wheels further enhance its profile to make it more appealing.

The rear has black bumper cladding whose top edges get a horizontal-shaped reflector to ensure the vehicle remains visible to other road users at night even if the taillight is off. Features a full-width LED taillight with a Volkswagen logo at the center, a mirror, and a front-end lighting signature; it also makes it recognizable from the back and creates a wide stance. Other notable features on the back are the roof-integrated spoiler with the brake light.
