Tata, Toyota, Hyundai & Kia: 4 Mega EVs Launching in India in FY27!

In the financial year 2026-27, four electric vehicles are set to be introduced in the Indian market. Out of four, one will be introduced by each of Tata, Toyota, Hyundai, and Kia; the upcoming electric cars are the Tata Sierra EV, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, the Hyundai Compact Electric, and the Kia Syros EV. Let’s have a closer look at each of them.

Tata Sierra EV

Tata Sierra EV

The Sierra EV from Tata Motors is an upcoming mid-size compact all-electric SUV whose launch is expected between July and September 2026. Reportedly, it will cost ex-showroom between 15 and 22 lakh rupees; the on-road is anticipated to range from 16.5 to 23.5 lakh rupees. Once launched, it will compete with the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and BYD Atto 3.

Notably, it is set to be based on its ICE counterpart, so it is highly expected that its design would be the same as the one already available for sale with the traditional powertrain. However, we may see some changes, such as a closed-off grill and more aerodynamic side profile to improve efficiency. It is set to be introduced with two batteries, and the larger one is expected to give a range of up to 500 km.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella

The Japanese automaker Toyota will soon launch the first EV in the Indian market, and it is set to be the Urban Cruiser Ebella. The launch date is still pending, but reports say that it may be introduced in India by late 2026. As of now, there’s no word from the manufacturer, but it is expected that it will start with an ex-showroom price from 16 lakh rupees and go up to 22 lakh rupees; its main competitors in the country are the MG ZS EV, the Tata Curvv EV, and the Maruti Suzuki eVitara.

It has a split headlight setup, hidden door handles for the rear door, and full-width LED taillights. It comes as a 5-seater in a layout of 2 and 3 with a boot space of 310 liters, which will help in carrying big luggage. Set to be introduced with two LFP battery packs, which are 49 and 61 kWh, the former one generates the power output of 144 hp, and the claimed range is 440 km, but the latter does 171 hp and runs up to 543 km on a full charge. It features three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport.

Hyundai Compact Electric

Hyundai, a South Korean automobile manufacturer, will introduce a compact EV in India; however, they haven’t yet disclosed its name. Reportedly, it is internally codenamed as ‘HE1i’ and all set to sit below its sibling, the Hyundai Creta Electric. Notably, it is built on an affordable E-GMP (K) platform and will also come with two battery packs, although their capacity is still pending and will be revealed with launch, which may happen in early 2027.

The price of this upcoming Hyundai EV is still uncertain; one thing that many sources suggest is that it is set to be introduced as an affordable option, so we can anticipate that the price may be between 9 and 15 lakh rupees. In terms of size, its length is most likely to be around 3.9 meters with a wheelbase of 2.6 meters. Its top variant is set to be full of smart and high-tech features, including an infotainment system, wireless phone charging, a multi-speaker sound system, and much more.

Kia Syros EV

The Syros EV from the South Korean carmaker Kia is highly anticipated to make its debut in the Indian market between August and September 2026; it is likely to be available for sale with the starting ex-showroom price of 14 lakh. It is going to be the most affordable EV in India. Notably, it isn’t born electric, like Tata’s Sierra EV; it is also diverted from its internal combustion engine (ICE) version.

Reportedly, its launch will happen as an FWD electric vehicle, meaning it is set to get a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the front axle. The power output and peak torque are not yet revealed; these specifications will be revealed with launch. Following the launch, it is set to give tough competition to other mid-size EVs available in the Indian market that include the MG Windsor EV, the Tata Nexon EV, and the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
