The facelift of the Hyundai IONIQ 5 recently spotted testing in Tamil Nadu reveals many details about its exterior. The launch of the updated compact all-electric crossover may take place in the next few weeks for the Indian market; reports say that the launch may happen in May 2026.
The South Korean automakers will reveal the price at its launch. It is most likely that the ex-showroom price for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 facelift will start from ₹37 lakh for the standard variant and go up to ₹48 lakh for the higher-end trim. Its top-trim may give tough competition to the base-variant Kia EV6.
Gets New Alloy Wheels
Up front, the new IONIQ 5 has the same closed-off grill for modern EV styling and is likely to get a new bumper with V-shaped garnishing that provides better cooling and a sportier look. It is set to retain pixel LED headlamps, which provides better visibility during the nighttime.
On the sides, it features futuristic, boxy silhouettes, the same as the outgoing model. It gets new aero-optimised alloy wheels which further improve its efficiency. The door handles are flush-type, which improves the aerodynamics and gives the premium EV feel.

The back also gets a redesigned bumper, which is quite modern compared to the outgoing model. Now, the spoiler is increased by 50 mm, giving a distinct look. It features distinctive pixel-style LED tail lamps, which makes it eye-catching from the back.
Wireless Charging Repositioned
The updated IONIQ 5 features a lounge-like cabin with a flat floor, and it gets dual 12.3-inch touchscreens, one for occupant infotainment and another as the digital instrument cluster, same as the outgoing model but equipped with the new ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) system.
It features OTA updates for software improvements and wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. The wireless charging position is changed to make it more convenient. The physical buttons are added back to give a more practical feel and get a new 3-spoke steering wheel with pixel lighting.

The front seats are reclinable, and the driver seat is powered with lumber support. It is highly anticipated that all seats are going to be ventilated and heated with a memory function. It may also include dual-zone climate control, a premium sound system and ambient lighting to increase the premiumness.
May Get an 84 kWh Battery
The updated IONIQ 5 is expected to be available with two lithium-ion battery packs, which are 72.6 kWh and 84 kWh. The one with the standard battery pack gives the ARAI-certified range of 631 km, but in the real world it is around 500 km.
The 84 kWh battery pack has a WLTP range of 570 km, but the real-world is around 520 km. The standard battery pack takes 21 minutes with a 150 KW DC charger, and a large pack takes only 18 minutes with a 350 KW DC charger to charge from 10% to 80%.
Power Output Up to 229 bhp
The updated IONIQ 5 comes with E-GMP, which gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle, featuring a rear-wheel drive drivetrain. The transmission is single-speed automatic, the same as the outgoing model of Hyundai’s all-electric crossover.
The one with the standard battery pack generates the power of 215 bhp, and the larger pack’s power output is 229 bhp, and torque for both battery packs is 350 Nm. The acceleration timing for 0-100 km/h is 7.5 seconds, and the top speed is 180 km/h for both battery packs.
Now Stretches To 4,655 mm
The updated IONIQ 5 is a little long compared to the outgoing model. The dimensions in terms of length, width, and height are 4,655 mm, 1,890 mm and 1,625 mm, respectively, featuring a bold road presence. The wheelbase is 3,000 mm, quite long in the segment, and provides stability at high speed.
The ground clearance is 163 mm, ideal for Indian road conditions, to tackle speed breakers and potholes. It is likely to have the boot space of 527 litres, the same as the facelift available in the international market, capable of carrying 5 big pieces of luggage. Features a seating capacity of 5 people in 2-3 layouts.
