Denza D9 2nd Gen Launched: PHEV from $52,100 and EV from $53,600 in China

The Denza, which comes under leading Chinese automaker BYD, has launched the second generation of its best-selling new energy vehicle, the D9, on April 27, 2026, in the Chinese market in two different powertrains, plug-in hybrid and all-electric. It is introduced in different variants, out of which three come as PHEVs and three as EVs.

Price

The second-generation D9 PHEVs are DM-i Flash Charging Premium, DM-i Flash Charging Prestige, and DM-i Flash Charging Flagship, with the prices of 359,800 yuan (52,100 USD), 399,800 yuan (57,900 USD), and 459,800 yuan (66,600 USD), respectively. 

And its EVs are EV Flash Charging Premium with the price of 369,800 yuan (53,600 USD), EV Flash Charging Prestige with 409,800 (59,400 USD), and EV Flash Charging Flagship with 469,800 yuan (68,100 USD).

Seating, Boot & Dimensions

The second-generation D9 comes with the seating capacity of 7 people in layout 2-2-3, making it family-friendly to go on long trips or outings. The second row has captain seats, and the third row gets bench seating. 

It comes with the boot space of 882 liters, which can carry 7 big pieces of big luggage. The length, width, and height are 5250 mm, 1960 mm, and 1900 mm, respectively. The wheelbase stands at 3110 mm, giving ample legroom for all rear-seating passengers.

Color & Exterior 

The second-generation D9 comes with a total of eight color options, out of which five are solid colors, including Crystal Purple, Mutton Fat White, Ink Jade Black, Lapis Lazuli Blue, and Pearl Gray; two are in double-tone, including Purple-Gold Dual Radiance and Blue-Silver Dual Shine; and one is a limited edition, Dark Night Gilded Gold.

Up front, it features a redesigned front chrome grille with chrome giving a three-dimensional appearance and sleek LED headlamps with a sharp DRL signature for better visibility. Overall, its front fascia is inspired by the π (pi) symbol design concept.

Besides traditional door handles, a large glass area, and multiple-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels for better grip. The rear gets full-width LED tail lamps with a multilayer lighting structure to add premiumness and features a clean and vertical tailgate for easy boot access.

Interior & Technology

The second-generation D9 features four color options for the interior that are Expansive Beige, Flowing Gear Brown, Gentle Taupe, and Serene Red. The cabin gets a total of ten screens; at the front, it is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 21-inch head-up display, a 15.6-inch central infotainment screen, a streaming rearview mirror, and a 15.6-inch front passenger screen.

And on the rear, it gets a 17.3-inch ceiling-mounted entertainment screen, dual magnetic headrest screens, and dual second-row seat control touchscreens. The entire cockpit is based on the DiLink intelligent system that ensures a better user interface as well as smooth performance. 

The front seats are electrically adjustable and come with heating, ventilation, and massage; the second row is available with ‘Zero Pressure Cloud Velvet’ seats with a 16-point massage system, heating, ventilation, and NFC control functionality as an option. Their seats are also powered, but they come only with ventilation and heating, no massage functions.

To ensure that the cabin has an immersive sound experience, it features a 30-speaker Devialet premium sound system. Also get a 7.5 L intelligent temperature-controlled storage box for cooling and heating foldable tables for rear seats for occupants, who may eat or work, and a 50 W wireless phone charging pad. 

To make the driving almost autonomous, it comes with God’s Eye 5.0, an intelligent driving system that works with 3 LiDAR sensors and 12 cameras. It features Highway and Urban NOA, full-scenario automatic parking, and automatic emergency braking that even works at the speed of 120 km/h.

Powertrain & Performance 

The second-generation D9 DM-i variant comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a double-motor setup featuring an all-wheel drive configuration. The engine generates the power of 115 kW, and the motor mounted with the front and rear axle has a power output of 200 kW and 45 kW, respectively. It gets a Blade 2.0 battery of 66.5 kWh, which gives an only-electric CLTC range of 400 km, and its fuel efficiency is 6.35 liters for 100 km of driving.

On the other hand, it comes with both single-motor FWD and double-motor AWD drivetrains. The one form with FWD generates the power of 340 kW, and the other with AWD has a power output of 340 kW for the motor mounted with the front axle and 70 kW for the rear. It comes with an 115 kWh Blade 2.0 battery, whose CLTC range for the FWD trim is 800 km and the same for the AWD variant is 750 km.

Both support BYD’s megawatt-level ultra-fast charging, which can charge the vehicle in 5 minutes from 10 to 70 percent. The charging of 10 to 97 percent takes 9 minutes, and in case of extreme cold conditions like -30°C, it takes 8 or 12 minutes, meaning it takes an extra 3 minutes. The second-generation D9 is available in six variants, three for the PHEV (DM-i) lineup and three for the pure EV lineup. For the PHEV models, a full charge may take only 5-7 minutes.
