Lexus TZ Three-Row Electric SUV Teased: 515 km Range, Global Debut on May 6

The Japanese automaker Toyota’s sub-brand Lexus recently teased a three-row electric SUV prior to its global debut on May 6, 2026. The automobile manufacturer hasn’t confirmed its name, but reportedly it is an electric version of the Lexus TX, a full-size luxury crossover SUV available with ICE and hybrid powertrains.

The brand also hasn’t revealed the name of the vehicle, but many sources have reported that it will be the Lexus TZ. Notably, it is based on the Toyota Highlander EV, meaning the upcoming Lexus three-row EV is built on the TNGA-K (Toyota New Global Architecture)-K platform.

Exterior & Design

Its last recent spy shots come from Germany, in which it was highly camouflaged yet revealed a few details about its exterior. Upfront, it features split LED headlights. This means the daylight running lights are placed above, and high and low beams are placed below. The step-up gives better visibility during the night and also improves its identity.

Its hood is rugged instead of the sleek and sloping nose, which gives it a tough look but ensures better aerodynamics. At the very bottom of the bumper, there’s an active shutter to keep the battery pack cool. Looking from the sides, it has a sloping roofline that reduces air resistance and helps in improving efficiency.

The door handles are flush-type that adds premium appeal and also improves aerodynamics and runs on the large alloy wheels that are aero-optimized for better grip and efficiency. At the back, it gets a full-width LED taillight strip, creating a wide stance. It has muscular haunches giving it a planted look.

Dimensions & Space

Lexus Three-Row Electric SUV Interior

In terms of dimensions, the upcoming Lexus three-row electric SUV is set to come with the same length of 5,050 mm and wheelbase of 3,050 mm that are in the Toyota Highlander EV. Reportedly, it will be a little higher and wider compared to its siblings. However, they are yet to reveal its width and height.

As Lexus has already confirmed that it’s a three-row EV, speculation is that it may come with both a seating capacity of 7 people in the traditional layout of 2-3-2 and 6 people with a configuration of 2-2-2 featuring the second-row captain’s seat that ensures more comfortable seating with separate armrests.

The cargo capacity is yet to be revealed, but a three-row SUV will have very small boot space, but folding the third row will increase it significantly and help with carrying the multiple large pieces of luggage conveniently.

Features & Technology

The Lexus may reveal all about its features and technology with its global debut. Reportedly, the cabin is set to be equipped with a 14-inch high-definition touchscreen for infotainment with 5G connectivity, AI-based voice control, and OTA software updates. Additionally, there will be a 12.3-inch driver display under the steering that shows driving data.

Other expected features and technology are a head-up display that projects driving data on the windshield, an electronic panoramic sunroof that makes the cabin airy, a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system to ensure a theater-like audio experience inside the cabin, and Lexus Safety System+ 3.5 to make driving stress-free and autonomous.

Powertrain & Specs

The Lexus three-row EV SUV will come with both double motors, featuring one on each axle, the same as the Toyota Highlander EV. Its drivetrain is set to be AWD, and transmission is single-speed automatic. Same as its sibling, the car is set to come with a battery pack of 95.8 kWh, giving a range of 515 km.

The Highlander EV has a power output of 338 hp; the upcoming Lexus three-row electric SUV is also likely to mirror it. The acceleration timing is expected to be around 6-7 seconds, and top speed may go up to 200 km/h.
