XPENG GX Launch: Can This 577hp Flagship Disrupt the Premium SUV Market on May 20?

The Chinese automobile manufacturer XPENG has shared on Weibo that they are going to hold the launch event for the XPENG GX on May 20, 2026. It is the same flagship full-size SUV that the carmaker showcased on April 24, 2026, at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show.

Pre-sales have been underway in China from April 15, 2026, with the price of 399,800 Chinese yuan, equivalent to 58,787 American dollars. The arrival of the car started three days after the start of pre-order, and almost all the dealers have received it by late April 2026.

While the pre-sale is ongoing, the final launch price may differ; reports say that it may come with a little lower price, although it is yet to be seen if it happens or not. Once launched, it will give tough competition to the Nio ES9 and the value-focused Leapmotor D19.

Even though its launch has yet to happen, many details about the car have emerged since the start of pre-sale. In terms of dimensions, it measures 5,265 mm in length, 1,999 mm wide and 1,800 mm high. Its wheelbase is 3,115 mm.

The slim full-width DRLs are clearly visible at the front end, adding a modern touch. Slim headlamps are added to ensure better visibility for nighttime driving, and the large air intakes are placed lower for cooling.

On the sides, it gets flush-type door handles that help in reducing the drag, a totally blacked-out C and D pillars to make its side look eye-catching, a floating-style roof to improve airflow, and large aero-optimised alloy wheels to enhance road presence.

The full-width LED taillights mirror the front-end lighting signature and create a wide stance; its tailgate is kept minimalist for easy boot access, and the roof-mounted spoiler at the back works in keeping the car stable at high speed.

Colour options are also revealed prior to the launch; it is set to be available with five options that include Everest White, Polar Black, Fjord Grey, Danxia Red and Cloud Gold Matte.

Xpeng GX Interior
