On May 20, 2026, the Chinese automaker XPENG launched the full-size SUV XPENG GX with battery-electric and extended-range electric powertrains for the domestic market after starting the pre-sale on April 15, 2026. Now it is all set to give tough competition to Nio ES9 and Aito M9 in China. Notably, with both the powertrains, it is available for sale in three variants that are the Max, the Ultra SE, and the Ultra. Reportedly, in the second half of 2026, there will also come a new variant that is L4 Robo.
The pre-sale began with the starting price of ¥399,800 (₹56.91 lakh); compared to the pre-sale price, the cost announced with the launch is significantly low. The one with the battery-electric powertrain is available with the prices of ¥279,800 (₹33.3 lakh), ¥289,800 (₹34.5 lakh), and ¥319,800 (₹38.1 lakh); and the other with the extended-range electric powertrain costs ¥299,800 (₹35.7 lakh), ¥309,800 (₹36.9 lakh), and ¥329,800 (₹39.3 lakh).
All variants with both powertrains are built on 800-volt electrical architecture; the pure-electric Max and Ultra SE are available with both single-motor rear-wheel drive drivetrains, which generate the power output of 270 kW. It comes with the 91.9 kWh LFP battery pack, whose CLTC range is 665 km. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, and the top speed goes up to 200 km/h.

On the other hand, the Ultra variant gets two electric motors, one mounted with the front axle and another with the rear, featuring an AWD drivetrain whose combined power output is 430 kW. It comes with the 110 kWh LFP battery pack, which runs up to 750 km on a full charge on CLTC conditions. Its 0-100 km/h acceleration is only 4 seconds, and the maximum speed is 200 km/h. Notably, all the variants of EV support 5C ultra-fast charging; with the charge of just 12 minutes, it adds the range of 525 km on the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle.
And all variants of the extended-range electric powertrain get a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine as a generator, whose power output is 109 kW. Get two electric motors, one on each axle, featuring an AWD drivetrain; the front motor generates the power of 160 kW and the rear does 210 kW, and the combined power output is 370 kW. Offered with a 63.3 kWh LFP battery pack, whose CLTC range is only 430 km. With a fuel tank of 60 litres, it gives a combined range of 1585 km. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h; it takes only 4.5 seconds. Its top speed is also 200 km/h.

To make the driving semi-autonomous and stress-free, it gets touring chips across all variants. The Max, Ultra SE and Ultra have a computing power of 750 TOPS, 1,500 TOPS and 2,250 TOPS, respectively. Also features steer-by-wire technology, meaning there is no mechanical linkage between them i.e., steering is controlled via electronic signals; brake-by-wire technology for faster brake response and better regenerative braking; and dual-chamber air suspension, which ensures smooth driving on all types of road conditions.
It comes with a seating capacity of 6 people in a layout of 2-2-2, with a cargo capacity of 673 litres. The second row gets captain seats with zero-gravity reclining, heating, ventilation, a 16-point massage function and electric leg rests. Inside, it gets an 88-inch augmented reality HUD which projects the driving data on the windscreen, a 17.3-inch infotainment system, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster, and a 21.4-inch rear entertainment display. Other notable features are a 33-speaker premium sound system, two wireless charging pads, ambient lighting, and a built-in refrigerator.
