On August 26, 2026, the JSW MG Motors India, a joint venture between the JSW Group and SAIC Motor, is all set to launch an electrified sport utility vehicle in the Indian market, whose name is anticipated to be ‘Hector Hawk.’ Reportedly, they will introduce the model with a battery electric vehicle and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, which is built on the Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology.
The upcoming three-row MG SUV in the Indian market is based on the Wuling Starlight (Xingguang) 560, one sold in the Chinese market. The same is known with the name of Wuling Eksion in Indonesia. For India, it is internally codenamed as MG 520. Many reports suggest that, firstly, they will introduce the BEV version and then the PHEV.
In our previous report for this upcoming electrified sport utility vehicle from JWS MG Motors India, when it was spotted testing with heavy camouflage, we mentioned that the launch of the battery electric vehicle will happen in August 2026; now it seems to be true. For now, the details regarding the launch of the PHEV are uncertain.
Some reports say that the carmaker may introduce the plug-in hybrid electric version of this SUV in late 2026, and if delayed, then in early 2027. Currently, they are selling six pure-electric models in India, which are the Comet EV, Windsor EV, ZS EV, IM6, M9, and Cyberster. The upcoming EV will sit above the MG ZS EV and below the MG IM6.
The carmaker hasn’t confirmed any details regarding the price for this upcoming pure-electric SUV; we are expecting it to cost ex-showroom between ₹28 lakh and ₹35 lakh. Following the launch in the Indian market, it will take on the Mahindra XEV 9S and the upcoming Tata Safari EV, whose launch is due by the festive season of 2026.
In Indonesia, this BEV is available for sale as an FWD vehicle, which gets an electric motor on the front axle and a one-speed automatic reduction gearbox. The e-motor outputs 150 kW (201 hp) power and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) torque, helping it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 9 seconds and reaching the maximum speed of 160 km/h.
Under the floor, it gets a 69.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which gives the CLTC range of 530 km. Its electrical architecture is a 400-volt high-voltage supporting DC charger up to 100 kW, which takes 20 minutes for 20 to 80 percent charging. With an 11 kW AC charger, it takes 10 hours for 10 to 100 percent charging.
We are expecting that the model will come to the Indian market with the same motor setup and battery pack. The seating layout is set to be 2-3-2 with ample legroom, headroom, and shoulder room. The cabin gets a 112.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system just above the center console and an 8.8-inch TFT digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel.
It has ventilated front seats to keep the driver and co-passenger cool on hot days; they are also power-adjustable, which helps in finding the comfortable seating position. Other notable features are automatic climate control with a PM2.5 air filter and third-row AC vents, which not only maintain the cabin temperature but also ensure fresh air for all.
Its center console has a 50 watt wireless phone charging pad, which can be used to charge the phone just by placing the phone over it. It is more convenient for the driver and co-passenger for phone charging. The second row and third row have fast charging ports. It also has a 360-degree camera with a transparent chassis view and dual-layer soundproof glass.
