At the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show, the presale for the Hyundai IONIQ V, an all-electric sedan with a seating capacity of five people, will start. The Beijing Hyundai, a joint venture between Hyundai Motors and Beijing Automotive Industry Holding, will start taking pre-orders for the domestic market.
Divers who are interested in buying this pure-electric sedan may exercise the option of presale to get the delivery preference. Notably, the market launch will take place within four weeks after the pre-sale.
Presale Date & Price
Beijing Hyundai has officially confirmed the date for the presale of the China-made Hyundai IONIQ V. They are all set to start on August 21, 2026, meaning from this date anyone in China will show interest in buying by exercising pre-sale through the joint venture’s official website or dealership.
As of now, there’s no update on the price of the presale for this upcoming pure-electric sedan. It is still uncertain whether they will take pre-orders by announcing the price or blindly. As they are set to start presale at the event, we are expecting to start with a tentative price, as the regular one is anticipated to be made at the launch event.
What do we know so far about this IONIQ V e-sedan?
The carmaker has already revealed the model’s exterior and interior. Even its core specifications are available in the public domain thanks to the China MIIT filing catalog release. Following its unveiling at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, many details about this all-electric sedan have emerged.
Dimensions & Space
In terms of length, width, and height, this pure-electric sedan measures 4,900 mm, 1,890 mm, and 1,470 mm, respectively. The wheelbase is 2,900 mm, which is 20 mm and 100 mm shorter than the BYD Seal and Xiaomi SU7, respectively, but 25 mm, 85 mm, and 130 mm shorter than the Tesla Model 3, XPeng Mona M03, and MG 7, respectively.
Behind the second row, it has a decent boot space that is accessible via the tailgate. Its front legroom is 1,078 mm and rear is 1,019 mm. The shoulder room for the co-passenger and driver is 1,502 mm, but the same for rear seating passengers is 1,474 mm.
Color Options & Exterior
Set to be available for sale in the Chinese market with eight different color options, including Cyber Gold, Dimensional Purple, Gamma Green, Magnetic Grey, Photon White (Gloss), Photon White (Matte), Streamer Silver, and Night Blade Black.
Outside, it has a slim LED daylight running light that connects with black trim at the center and redefines the H letter. The main headlights, including high and low beams, are on the bumper, and active air intakes are placed lower.
Other things that are visible on its exterior are double-toned alloy wheels with black wheel arch cladding, front-door-mounted ORVMs, semi-hidden flush-type door handles, and horizontal-shape LED taillights on the outer edges and tailgate sides.
Powertrain & Performance
Get a permanent magnet synchronous motor with single-speed automatic transmission at the rear axle, which generates the power of 140 kW (188 hp) and 168 kW (225 hp) with the 53.5 kWh and 66.8 kWh lithium-ion battery packs, respectively. It can reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h; 0 to 100 km/h acceleration timing is still pending.
The battery packs are sourced from CATL; the weightage of the 53.5 kWh and 66.8 kWh battery packs is 395 kg and 465 kg, respectively. The CLTC range with the standard battery pack is 540 km; the same with the larger one is 650 km. They both are built on 800-volt electrical architecture supporting fast DC charging.
