GMW’s Tank 700 LWB is a long-wheelbase variant of Tank 700 SUV that was launched back in April 2026 and is coming soon to the Chinese market. Its core specifications are revealed by the China MIIT. It will go on sale as a six-seater off-road SUV with a seating arrangement of 2-2-2 with a decent cargo capacity to enhance luggage-carrying practicality. Let’s have a closer look at this upcoming off-roader.
GMW’s Tank 700 LWB revealed details.
GMW’s answer to the BYD Yangwang U8 is the upcoming Tank 700 LWB six-seater electrified SUV. Its dimensions in terms of length, width, and height are 5,445 mm with a 3,150 mm wheelbase, 3,150 mm, and 2,126 mm, respectively. For clarity, the long wheelbase variant has 340 mm more length with 150 mm more distance between the axles, and it is 65 mm wider and 36 mm taller.
The filing shows that the GMW won’t only launch this car with the plug-in hybrid electric powertrain that we see with the standard wheelbase variant, but there will also be a pure-petrol version. The PHEV is set to get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered ICE that delivers the power of 185 kW / 248 hp and torque of 385 Nm.
Two electric motors, one on each axle, are certain, but their power output is still pending. A ternary lithium battery from the Svolt of 59.05 kWh is certain under the hood that will help the vehicle to run on EV (electric vehicle) mode on WLTC (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Cycle) condition up to 190 km, but there’s no update on its combined range.
The kerb weights of 3,396 to 3,480 kg are found in the China MIIT filing; it is a clear hint that this six-seater car will go on sale in more than one variant, or one may be for PHEV and the other for the ICE car. The pure-petrol version is set to have a 3.0-litre Twin Turbocharged V6 ICE with a nine-speed automatic transmission under the hood that delivers 265 kW (355 hp) power and 560 Nm torque.
Exterior design and features.
The exterior image of the six-seater Tank 700 also appeared in the China MIIT filing, which reveals that this design is similar to the five-seater version with the integrated headlight, rugged front and rear bumper, brand’s logo on the grill, sculpted bonnet, thick wheel arch cladding, convenient door handles, roof rails, horizontally orientated taillamps, vertical reflector on the rear bumper, and spare wheel on the tailgate.
The interior features aren’t officially made public. As the six-seater is an LWB version, the cabin will retain all that is offered with the five-seater, such as the 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the dashboard’s centre, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster under the steering wheel, and the 17.3-inch rear entertainment screen mounted with the ceiling.
Other features that are highly anticipated inside the cabin are ventilated and heated first- and second-row seats, a 5.4-litre built-in refrigerator in the second row, and a 21-speaker sound system. The LWB version’s roof gets a LIDAR that confirms that it will have an intelligent driving system with a VLA (Vision, Language, Action) model that helps navigation autopilot for highway and city driving.
Updates on launch date and pricing.
The GMW is yet to confirm the Tank 700 LWB six-seater SUV launch date; reports suggest that they will launch the model in the Chinese market in late 2026. Firstly, the brand will start the presale, and then it will go for the market launch. Pricing details will be revealed at the launch event, as it will be positioned above the standard Tank 700. We are anticipating it to be around 450,000 yuan, which is equivalent to 67,100 USD.
