Nio ES8 Five-Seater Set to Launch July 9 With 520 kW AWD

The Chinese premium electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has started the pre-sale for the five-seater version of the Nio ES8, a luxury all-electric sport utility vehicle, on June 28, 2026, and they are all set to launch it on July 9, 2026, announcing the price. Following the launch, it will compete with the Li Auto L9, Onvo L80, and the Aito M8.

Reportedly, those who will pay 5,000 yuan (0.69 lakh rupees) during the pre-order will get a discount of 10,000 yuan (1.38 lakh rupees) on the purchase price. During the media interaction, the founder, chairman, and CEO, William Li, said that the five-seater Nio ES8 is set to be the enduring king in the segment, and he also encouraged buyers to pre-order to get benefits.

Its six-seater and seven-seater versions are already on sale in China, and the upcoming five-seater measures the same as the two existing ones in terms of length, width, and height, which are 5,280 mm, 2,010 mm, and 1,800 mm. Its wheelbase is 3,130,120 mm less than the three-row version.

Available with a five-seater in a layout of 2-3, two seats in the front row and three in the second. Behind the second-row seats, it has a boot space of 1,334 liters, which is expandable up to 3,084 liters by folding down the rear seats. It has 230 liters of front trunk storage and can be used for carrying small items.

The price for the five-seater Nio ES8 is highly anticipated to be lower than the six-seater and seven-seater versions; the three-row model is available for sale with the price of 406,800 yuan (56.48 lakh rupees), so we are expecting that the five-seater may cost lower than 400,000 yuan (55.54 lakh rupees).

Equipped with the Cedar intelligent driving system, features navigation and autopilot for both city driving and highway cruising. It works with 3 LiDAR sensors, high-resolution cameras, 4D millimeter-wave radar, ultrasonic sensors, and the Shenji NX9031 in-house 5 nm autonomous driving chip with the computing power of 1,000 TOPS. 

Get two electric motors, one on each axle; the front generates the power of 180 kW, and the rear does 340 kW. They combined cranks up to 520 kW (697 hp) power and 700 Nm torque. Its drivetrain is all-wheel drive and features single-speed automatic transmission.

To accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, it takes 3.97 seconds. The maximum speed is 220 km/h. Equipped with a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with 900V high-voltage architecture supporting 4C ultra-fast charging. After each full charge, it can run up to 655 km under the CLTC condition.

The cabin gets soft-touch leather upholstery, real wood trim, and brushed metal accents. It gets a 38-inch Skyline panoramic AR head-up display, which projects all the driving data on the windshield, and a 15.6-inch horizontal AMOLED central touchscreen infotainment system with 5G and wireless multi-device connectivity.

The infotainment system is integrated with the Lyra 35 speaker 8.1.4.2 premium surround sound system. Other notable features are five-zone automatic climate control; a smart air purification system; a 2.5 m² panoramic glass roof with powered sunshades; wireless phone charging and multiple USB Type-C ports; and zero-gravity front seats. 

The Chinese premium EV carmaker introduced the third-generation Nio ES8 with a seating capacity of 6 people in a 2-2-2 layout and 7 people in a 2-3-2 layout on September 20, 2025, just a day after the delivery of the same began for the customers.

Following the launch, in just 275 days, they delivered more than 120,000 units. Its first generation debuted back in 2018; since then, more than 210,000 units have been delivered in China. Last month, i.e., in May 2026, they sold 11,475, 1,553 less than in April 2026, an 11.92% MoM decline.
