On July 31, 2026, the BYD Ti 7, a mid-size seven-seater plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, finally made its debut in the United Kingdom. The Chinese automobile manufacturer has introduced this model to the UK market in a single variant, Excellence AWD, with a price of £47,995, which translates to ₹55.3 lakh in India and US$63,900 in the United States.
They have started the booking for the model with the amount of £500 (₹64,323 or US$671), which is fully refundable. Reportedly, the carmaker is all set to start the delivery in January 2027. Its main rivals in the United Kingdom market are the Volvo XC90 Recharge, Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid, Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid, Toyota Land Cruiser, and Land Rover Defender 110 P400e.
This plug-in hybrid electric is built on BYD’s DM-p Super Hybrid powertrain, getting a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood with a permanent magnet synchronous motor. They are mated with an electronic continuously variable transmission.
Overall it gets three electric motors, one PMSM at the front axle and two P4 electric motors on the rear axle, one driving each wheel. The complete setup makes it an all-wheel-drive vehicle. The combined power output is 408 PS (402 hp or 300 kW), which makes 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration timing possible in 4.8 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 118 mph (190 km/h).

As a PHEV, this car is also equipped with a 35.6 kWh BYD Blade battery pack, whose emission-free range in WLTP conditions is 74 miles (119 km). When the battery pack is depleted, it gives a fuel efficiency of 18.0 km/L (50.8 mpg in the UK). It has a fuel tank of 60 litres. When the tank is full, it can run up to 1,080 km (671 miles). Notably, its combined range is 745 miles (1,199 km).
It comes with six different colour options, including Starlight Silver, Mountain Green, Obsidian Black, Jade Green, Titanium Grey, and Matte Titanium Grey. The length, width, and height of the Ti 7 are 4,999 mm, 1,995 mm, and 1,865 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,920 mm, 105 mm more than the Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid and Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid and 70 mm more than the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Features a seating capacity of 7 people and boot space of 126 litres. Notably, folding the second-row seats extends the boot space to 970 litres. Doing so with the third row further enhances it to 1,830 litres. Notably, all seats come with leatherette upholstery in three different colour options, including black, light grey and brown. The driver’s and co-passenger’s seats are ventilated and heated to keep cool and warm, respectively.
Inside, it has a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display under the steering wheel which shows all the driving-related information clearly. The centrally mounted screen supports wireless connectivity for smartphones via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the audio and video streaming. To ensure an immersive audio experience, it has an 18-speaker premium sound system.

Other features that are notable are a wireless phone charging pad that helps with charging the phone conveniently without plugging it in; vehicle-to-load, which enables running of external electronic devices and helps with making coffee and eatables on the long drives; four-way adjustable second-row seats for enhancing seating comfort; and three-zone automatic climate control that lets you set different temperatures for the driver, co-passenger, and rear seating passengers.
