The Chinese automobile manufacturer FAW Bestune has finally launched the five-door FAW Bestune Pony as a replacement for the model that comes with three doors. The FAW Bestune is also known by the name of Bestune Xiaoma in some international markets. The launch took place with the starting price of 44,900 yuan, which is equivalent to 6,735 USD.
The three-door model is on sale in the Chinese market with the price up to 42,900 yuan (6,435 USD); compared to the same, the newly introduced five-door trim is costlier by just 2,000 yuan (300 USD). The design of the five-door version is quite similar to the outgoing three-door trim. It is also available with a 2-2 seating layout.
The wheelbase is more than 2.2 metres.
Launching the five-door FAW Bestune Pony all-electric hatchback on October 28, 2026, the brand also revealed the dimensions. The length, width, and height are 3350 mm, 1540 mm, and 1600 mm, respectively, with the wheelbase of 2215 mm. For clarity, the five-door version is 350 mm longer and 30 mm wider, has 262 mm more wheelbase, but is 30 mm lower in height.
Notably, the three-door FAW Bestune Pony electric hatchback is also a four-seater car but recently launched and has a more spacious cabin because its wheelbase has been increased by more than 2.6 metres, which increases the legroom. An increase in the width also helps with better shoulder room in the second row.
Features semi-hidden door handles.
The sale for the five-door FAW Bestune Pony has officially begun with the launch; a total of five colour options are available. These five colours are orange, blue, green, brown, and white. Its design is young rider friendly. At the front, it has “cute” headlamps, a closed-off grille, and small air intakes.
On the sides, this all-electric hatchback gets semi-hidden flush-type door handles, an A-pillar-mounted black-outted outside rear view mirror, an upright stance, and fuzzy 13-inch wheels. The rear can be seen having the ‘cute’ taillamps, FAW lettering on the tailgate, and a roof-integrated spoiler.
Get a large touchscreen infotainment system.
Inside the cabin, the five-door FAW Bestune Pony all-electric hatchback can be seen with a large floating touchscreen infotainment system. As the brand, it is 10.1-inch but available optionally. It means anyone who wants this setup to be installed on his or her car’s dashboard needs to pay extra.
Before the driving seat, there is a D-shaped two-spoke steering wheel. Behind the same, a 7-inch LCD instrument cluster can be seen, it shows all the driving data. Below the infotainment system, the rotary controls are placed; the FAW Bestune hasn’t specified for what they are placed.
Among the official revealed details, it is also available that the boot space behind the second row, which was only 81 litres for the three-door version, is now increased to 265 litres because of the change in the dimensions of the car. It has also been revealed that folding the second-row seats enhances the cargo capacity to 1,052 litres.
Range upto 222 km.
The five-door FAW Bestune Pony electric hatchback gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle featuring a front-wheel-drive drivetrain, which delivers 30 kW and 40 hp. Depending on the trim, the lithium-ion battery packs of 17 kWh and 27.2 kWh are available, which give a range of 222 km and 328 km, respectively, on CLTC conditions.
The real-world range is set to vary depending on driving style and weather conditions. FAW Bestune says that this five-door electric hatchback can reach the maximum speed of 130 km/h; things regarding the 0 to 60 km/h acceleration timing are still pending.
