Yijing, a joint venture between Dongfeng and Huawei, is all set to unveil the X9, a six-seater sport utility vehicle for the Chinese market, on April 23, 2026. The launch is highly anticipated among the auto enthusiasts; it is most likely that its price will be around 350,000 yuan.

As per the reports, the joint venture is expected to be known by the name Epicland in the global market, although official confirmation is awaited. It is made to fill in the gap between Yipai and Voyah in the Chinese market, in which Huawei is providing technology and Dongfeng is a manufacturer.

In terms of body, it is a large crossover SUV whose dimensions in terms of length are 5.3 metres and wheelbase is 3.1 metres, meaning it is going to be quite a spacious vehicle with ample legroom for all occupants. Actual figures for undisclosed dimensions will be disclosed with the launch of the vehicle.

Interior Features

The interior of the X9 is expected to be equipped with a massive touchscreen stretching across the dashboard, combining the instrument cluster, an infotainment system that acts as central control and a passenger display that runs on the next-generation Huawei HarmonyOS cockpit, which enables a seamless app ecosystem, multi-device connectivity and AI-based voice and gesture control.

The cabin may also get an AI multimodal perception system, which includes driver attention, passenger behaviour and cabin environment, which allows smart adjustment. Seating capacity of six people is in an available layout of 2-2-2; the second row seats are capitals that come with armrests and also support inclining for better comfort.

The front row seats are expected to be electronically adjustable with ventilation, heating, and memory functions. For convenience, it will also get a wireless phone charging pad at the front and USB ports across the cabin. The multiple-speaker sound system is certain, which will give an immersive sound experience.

It is likely to get an advanced in-vehicle lighting system that is developed by Huawei, including multiple-colour ambient lighting that enhances mode and dynamic light effects which sync with driving modes. For the autonomous driving interaction, it comes with Navigate on Autopilot and the 896-line LiDAR-based Qiankun assisted driving system.

Exterior Design

The front fascia is expected to feature a split headlight setup, the slim LED DRL light bar on top and headlamps, to give it a futuristic look. The modern grill is expected to make the front-end look eye-catching.

On the sides, it will feature a flat roofline to give a long silhouette, high beltline and large body to give strong road presence, flush-type door handles for better aerodynamics, and double-tone paint for luxury styling.

At the rear, it may get a full-width LED tail light bar to give it a modern and futuristic identity; the tailgate is expected to feature a clean and minimal surface with a focus on luxury simplicity, and the wide and horizontal stance gives a more planted and premium look.

Powertrain

Yijing hasn’t confirmed anything about the X9’s powertrain. One of the car’s official images shows two small doors at the rear fender; it is likely that one is for the fuel cover cap and the other is for the charging port, meaning it is likely to be a plug-in hybrid vehicle, which will feature a petrol engine and one/two electric motors for a RWD/AWD drivetrain.

The engine in the vehicle will act as a generator to power the motor which runs the wheels. As a PHEV, it will also have an LPF battery pack that may feature only-electric CLTC range of around 200-220 km. The top speed may be 200 km/h, and 0-100 km/h acceleration is expected around 4-7 seconds, depending on the drivetrain.
