Upcoming EVs in India in September 2026: BMW i7 Facelift, BMW i5 LWB & Tata Tigor EV Facelift

In September 2026, the Indian market may see the launch of three electric vehicles. These upcoming EVs are the BMW i7 facelift, the BMW i5 LWB, and the Tata Tigor EV facelift. The dates for the first two are officially confirmed, and the same for the last one is still yet to be confirmed officially. Let’s have a closer look at each of these upcoming EVs.

BMW i7 Facelift

Launch Date: 11 September 2026

BMW India has officially confirmed the date for the launch in the domestic market. The Indian subsidiary of the German carmaker is all set to launch this luxury electric sedan. The launch may take place in three variants, 50 xDrive, 60 xDrive, and M70 xDrive, which deliver power up to 455 hp, 544 hp, and 680 hp, respectively. 

This electric sedan is coming with many upgrades and changes outside and inside to make it more appealing. Its cabin is set to have a redesigned illuminated kidney grille, revised split LED headlights, new front and rear bumpers, slimmer rear lamps, and new alloy-wheel designs. 

Its cabin is now set to get a BMW Panoramic iDrive display with the 17.9-inch central touchscreen and 14.6-inch passenger display. The centrally mounted screen will run up to the new BMW Operating System X and updated four-spoke steering wheel, enhancing the cabin aesthetic.

All three variants are set to come equipped with a 112.5 kWh LFP battery pack, whose range on WLTP conditions is set to 728 km, 727 km, and 686 km, respectively. As it is a facelift, there’s no change in dimensions. The length, width, and height are 5,391 mm, 2,192 mm, and 1,950 mm, respectively.

BMW i5 LWB

Launch Date: Second week of September 2026.

BMW India started taking orders for this luxury sedan, the BMW i5 LWB, from August 21, 2026; the launch is anticipated within four weeks. They are all set to launch it as the First Edition for only 99 customers by locally producing at its Chennai plant. The dimensions of this upcoming car are 5,175 mm in length, 2,156 mm in width, and 1,520 mm in height with the wheelbase of 3,105 mm.

This vehicle will make its debut in the Indian market as the eDrive35L variant, getting a permanent magnet synchronous motor with single-speed automatic transmission. Its PMSM delivers 268 hp of power, which makes 0 to 100 km/h acceleration possible in 6.7 seconds. Beneath the floor, it has an 81.6 kWh LFP battery pack, giving a 669 km range on the MIDC-certified condition.

It has adaptive rear-axle air suspension, 20-inch M alloy wheels, a BMW Iconic Glow illuminated kidney grille, and Driving Assistant Plus. Its exterior has an exclusive carbon black metallic color with titanium bronze exterior accents. Inside the cabin, it features a tablet and tablet holder for rear passengers, BMW Individual silver bronze accents, and Fineline open-pored fine-wood trim.

Tata Tigor EV Facelift

Launch Date: Late September 2026

Earlier reports confirm that the Tata Motor Passenger Vehicle is now Tata. Cars will launch its flagship seven-seater Safari EV. As the three-row EV is anticipated to make its debut in the Indian market by late October 2026, we are expecting that they will launch the Tata Tigor EV facelift in the last week of September 2026. The carmaker has already patented its ICE design; the upcoming EV also gets the same changes as the Tiago nameplate.

The patent image has confirmed that this upcoming facelift with a slim integrated headlight setup with the black trim in the center is with Tata. A car’s logo for branding. Its cabin will also get a few upgrades and improvements such as updated upholstery and revised window, dashboard, and door trims. The report suggests that a large touchscreen infotainment will be offered, replacing the existing one.
