BYD Great Tang Launched: 7 Seats, Under-4s 0-100 & Ultra-Fast Charging

After a long wait, on June 17, 2026, Build Your Dreams finally launched the BYD Great Tang, a full-size pure-electric flagship crossover, for the domestic market, as we reported earlier. They have launched it in four different variants: 800 KM Premium, 950 KM Flagship, 850 KM 4WD Flagship, and Shengshi Edition.

The first one is available with a price of 239,900 yuan, second with 269,900 yuan, third with 289,900 yuan, and fourth with 309,900 yuan. This electric SUV from BYD is added to the Dynasty Network lineup above the BYD Tang and BYD Tang L. Its main competitors in China are the Li Auto L9 and the Aito M9

It is built on BYD’s Super e-Platform, whose electrical architecture is 1,000 volts. The first two get an electric motor on the rear axle, featuring rear-wheel drive, and the last two get dual electric motors, one on each axle, featuring an all-wheel drive drivetrain.

The carmaker is offering it with two different BYD next-generation blade LFP battery packs, which are 105.79 kWh and 130.15 kWh. Among the four variants, the first gets a standard battery pack, but the last three are equipped with the large one.

The RWD variant that is equipped with a standard battery pack generates the peak power of 300 kW; the one with a large battery delivers 370 kW. The AWD variants’ front and rear motors generate the power of 215 kW and 370 kW, respectively; they combinedly put out the power of 585 kW.

To accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, the AWD variant takes a time of 3.9 seconds. The CLTC range for RWD with standard and larger battery packs is 800 kilometres and 950 kilometres, respectively, and both AWD variants run up to 850 kilometres.

All variants of the BYD Great Tang are flash-charging compatible. Meaning, with the maximum supported DC charger power output, the vehicle can charge itself from 10 to 70 per cent in just 5 minutes; to reach the charge of 10 to 97 per cent, it takes 9 minutes.

Available in two size options that are 5,263 mm, 1,999 mm and 1,790 mm; and 5,302 mm, 1,999 mm, and 1,800 mm. The wheelbase is 3,130 mm for both. Features a seating capacity of 7 people in a layout of 2-2-3 with zero-gravity front seats and captain’s second-row seats.

It features DiSus-A, an intelligent air suspension system, which features electronic ride height adjustable up to 100 mm; it works to provide better ride comfort, reduce body roll, and enhance high-speed stability, and rear-wheel steering turns the rear wheel opposite to the front wheel while driving at slow speed, which reduces turning radius.

Also get God’s Eye 5.0, an intelligent driving assistant system, which works with roof-mounted LiDAR (light detection and ranging) sensors, cameras, millimetre-wave radars, ultrasonic sensors, and a high-performance computing platform featuring navigation autopilot for city driving and highway cruising to make driving stress-free.

The cabin gets a slim digital instrument cluster before the driving seat, a floating touchscreen infotainment system at the centre of the dashboard, and an entertainment screen before the co-passenger seat. Other highlights inside the cabin are a three-spoke steering wheel, two wireless phone charging pads, and a ceiling-mounted rear entertainment screen.

Outside, it gets full-width LED daylight running lights, vertical LED main headlights, pie-shaped aero-optimised alloy wheels, double-toned outside rear-view mirrors with powered integrated blinkers, flush-type door handles, a full-width LED taillight with BYD lettering at the centre, and roof-integrated spoilers.
