Avatr T09 Enters MIIT Filing: 845 HP Triple-Motor PHEV SUV Set for Late 2026 Debut

A day after the release of the image by the Avatr for the upcoming flagship 9-series sport utility vehicle, it appeared in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology regulatory filing with the name of Avatr T09. The listing shows the vehicle is all set to go on sale in the Chinese market as a plug-in hybrid electric SUV. Let’s have a closer look at this upcoming Avatr electrified car.

Avatr T09 core specifications revealed.

The upcoming T09 plug-in hybrid electric SUV from the Avatr measures 5,285 mm, 2,025 mm, and 1,810-1,820 mm in terms of length, width, and height, respectively, with the wheelbase of 3,150 mm, giving it a proportion of full-size sport utility vehicles. A total of six seats are set to be available in a 2-2-2 layout, giving the seating space for up to 6 adults with roomy cabins that provide ample legroom but also headroom and shoulder room.

Avatr is an automotive brand that was created with collaboration between Changan, Huawei, and CATL. The upcoming flagship SUV coming from them will go on with two different powertrains, double-motor and triple-motor, the details of which are:

  • Double Motor: There will be a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood and one electric motor on each axle. The ICE will deliver the power of 110 kW (147 hp), the front motor set to 180 kW (241 hp) and the rear to 310 kW (416 hp). The combined power output will be 490 kW (657 hp).
  • Triple Motor: A 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol-powered internal combustion engine is certain to be available under the hood, and a total of three electric motors, one on the front axle and two on the rear. The power output of the ICE, the front motor and each rear motor is 155 kW (208 hp), 180 kW (241 hp), and 225 kW (302 hp); they combinedly deliver 630 kW (845 hp).

The 71.24 kWh ternary lithium battery pack from the CATL is added beneath that floor, giving the pure-electric range on CLTC condition up to 300 km for the triple-motor version and 330 for the double-motor trim. The top speed for both powertrains is 220 kmph; 0 to 100 kmph acceleration timing is still pending.

The triple-motor version kerb weight is shown as 3,035 kg, hinting it will come in a single variant, and the double-motor kerb weight is 2,880 kg to 2,968 kg, confirming more than one variant will be on sale for this powertrain.

Any update on the Avatr T09 launch date and price?

There’s no confirmed date for the launch of the flash 9-series SUV from Avatr. Yong Jun, the vice president of the company, previously said during the media interaction that they will launch a six-seater SUV in late 2026. Soon, the manufacturer will release the interior images, and then the next stage will start the pre-sale.

We are expecting that the presale for the Avatr T09 will go on sale in October or November 2026, and shortly after that the model will go on sale with the market launch. In the Chinese market, it will be positioned against the IM LS9, Denza N9, Li Auto L9, and Aito M9

Things regarding its price are also uncertain. Avatr is currently selling three SUVs; they are the Avatr 11, the Avatr 07, and the Avatr 07L. The upcoming one is set to be positioned above them and costlier than them. The anticipated starting price for this upcoming car is 400,000 yuan, which translates to 59,600 USD or 56.51 lakh rupees.
