BYD Dolphin G DM-i UK Price Announced: Starts at £23,990 with Up to 105 km EV Range

On July 9, 2026, Build Your Dreams announced the price for the BYD Dolphin G DM-i for the UK and started accepting orders; delivery for the same is all set to start from September 2026. The carmaker has introduced the model in four different variants: they are Active, Boost, Comfort, and Sport. The price of the first one is £23,990, second is £26,990, third is £28,490, and fourth is £29,490. 

The Dolphin G DM-i from BYD is a compact plug-in hybrid electric vehicle that they have designed for the European market. Its main rivals in Europe are the Renault Clio E-Tech, the Toyota Yaris Hybrid, the MG3 Hybrid+, and the Volkswagen Polo. This five seater is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, whose dimensions are as follows:

  • Length: 4,160 mm
  • Width: 1,825 mm
  • Height: 1,575 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,610 mm
  • Boot space: 425 liters
  • Turning circle: 5.15 meters 
  • Ground clearance: 150 mm (unladen), 125 mm (fully loaded)

Outside, there is a BYD logo at the hood end; L-shaped integrated daylight running lights and LED headlights that are connected via black trim; a front bumper-integrated active air intake; side air curtains; flared wheel arches; Y-shaped five-spoke alloy wheels; body-colored flush-type door handles; an A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirror with integrated side indicators; a shark-fin antenna on the roof; a roof-integrated rear spoiler; a through-type full-width taillight with the BYD lettering at the center; and a rear bumper-integrated reflector.

The front and rear suspensions are independent MacPherson struts and torsion beams. The front wheel’s braking is managed by a ventilated disc, and the rear one by a disc. It also has an electronic parking brake with auto hold. For safe braking, it also features ABS with EBD to prevent wheel locking in case of sudden braking and distributes braking force between the front and rear axles. Other notable features related to braking are brake assist, stability control, and traction control systems.

Five seats are available in 2-3 arrangements. Inside the cabin, it has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel with a BYD logo. The 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster is available before the driver’s seat, which shows all driving data. Its center dashboard gets a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen for infotainment that is integrated with the eight-speaker premium audio system.

Its centrally mounted display comes with Google Built-in, including Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play Store; it supports intelligent voice control, Bluetooth connectivity, over-the-air software updates, and wireless multi-device connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other notable features inside the cabin are the following:

  • 15W wireless phone charging pad at the center of the dashboard to charge the phone conveniently, 
  • USB charging ports in the second row,
  • Rear AC vents for the comfort of occupants,
  • Ambient lighting to enhance mood for night driving,
  • Heated steering wheel to keep the driver warm on cold days, 
  • Six-way electrically adjustable driver seat to set the seat at a comfortable seating position with just one click, and 
  • 425 liters of boot space to carry luggage.

Built on BYD DM 5.0 Super Hybrid (DM-i), which gets 70 kW and 120 Nm from a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood. Features a 120 kW power and 210 Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor with E-CVT (electronic continuously variable transmission) at the front axle. It features a front-wheel-drive drivetrain.

Available with two LFP blade battery packs that are 7.42 kWh and 18.3 kWh, the combined power for the first one is 129 kW (176 PS) and for the other is 156 kW (212 PS), and peak torque for both is 210 Nm. The acceleration timing for 0 to 100 km/h is 8.3 seconds, and the top speed is 180 km/h. The emission-free WLTC range is 40 km and 105 km with the standard and large battery pack, respectively.
