Hyundai IONIQ V China Presale: 3 Variants, 800V Platform and Up to 650 km Range

The presale for the most awaited Beijing Hyundai IONIQ V finally started on August 21, 2026, in the Chinese market. The joint venture between Hyundai and BAIC has done so by showcasing it at the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show. A total of three variants of this all-electric fastback are available for pre-order through the JV’s official website; drivers interested in making purchases can show interest by filling the ‘Purchase Consultation’ form.

Alternatively, one can exercise the option of presale for the Hyundai IONIQ V in China via an authorised dealership. The presale prices are officially out for three different variants; they are 119,900 yuan (17,600 USD) for Standard, 129,900 yuan (19,100 USD) for Smart Driving, and 139,900 yuan (20,600 USD) for Long Range. These prices aren’t the actual sale price; when the model officially launches, the price may go down by a little.

This BEV’s presale began almost six months after its global debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto. During the homologation process, its core specifications appeared in the May 2026 China MIIT filing catalogue release. As of now, many details regarding registering this vehicle have emerged, and those which are still pending are to be disclosed with the launch. Its dimensions are as follows:

  • Length: 4,900 mm (192.9 inches)
  • Width: 1,890 mm (74.4 inches)
  • Height: 1,470 mm (57.9 inches)

The wheelbase of the Beijing Hyundai IONIQ V electric car is 2,900 mm (114.2 inches). Compared to one of its closest rivals, the MG 07, it is 75 mm (2.95 inches) longer, giving more legroom, better rear-seat comfort, more cabin space and a smooth driving experience with enhanced stability at high speeds. 5 seats are available in traditional 2-3 arrangements with folding features (60:40).

A total of eight exterior colour options are available: Cyber Gold, Dimensional Purple, Gamma Green, Magnetic Grey, Photon White (Gloss), Photon White (Matte), Flowing Light Silver, and Night Blade Black. They all are available as standard. Drivers planning to exercise presale in China may do so by choosing any of these colours; they won’t be charged even 1 yuan (0.15 USD) extra.

As a pure-electric car, it has an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine. The permanent magnet synchronous motor is present on the rear axle with single-speed automatic transmission. The PMSM generates the power up to 140 kW (188 hp) or 168 kW (225 hp), but the details regarding the variant are still undisclosed.

Two lithium-ion battery packs are offered; they are 53.5 kWh and 66.8 kWh. With the standard one, it gives the CLTC range of 520–540 km, and the same for the large one is 620–650 km. They are built on 800-volt electrical architecture. Its cabin has the Nebula wrap-around smart cockpit design with the 27-inch ultra-thin 4K panoramic display that acts as a digital instrument cluster showing driving data.

The entire cockpit runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 cockpit processor featuring an AI-powered Smart Assistant, integrating Baidu Wenxin Yiyan (Ernie Bot) and ByteDance Doubao large language models with 4-zone voice recognition, which does things over natural voice command. It also features Dolby Atmos immersive audio with 8 speakers to enhance the infotainment system.

For safety purposes, it has a reinforced body structure, nine airbags to ensure safety of all occupants, and 360-degree safety systems. It is equipped with the Momenta L2+ intelligent driving assistance featuring highway assistance, urban driving assistance, intelligent parking, continuous evolution, complex-road optimisation, and city navigation on Autopilot.
