Hyundai India Motor Limited has officially confirmed that they will launch a sub-4-metre sport utility vehicle in the Indian market competing with the Kia Syros EV, Tata Nexon EV and Maruti Suzuki eVitara. The Indian subsidiary of the South Korean automobile manufacturer has confirmed that this e-SUV will come with a level 2 ADAS suite, ensuring better safety for all the occupants.
In the Indian market, HIML is selling two pure-electric models: the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the Hyundai Creta Electric; the upcoming one is set to be placed below them. Notably, the carmaker hasn’t revealed the nameplate. As of now, there’s no confirmed date for the launch of this vehicle; reports suggest it will debut in the Indian market in the last quarter of 2026, around the festive season.
This upcoming all-electric sport utility vehicle has been spotted testing on public roads multiple times; the spied image of the same has already revealed that it gets slim daylight running lights below the hood, headlamps on the bumper, a blacked-out A-pillar-mounted outside rear-view mirror, a roof-mounted rail, a rear spoiler integrated with the roof, slim horizontal taillights, and large alloy wheels.
As an A-segment car, it is set to measure under 4 metres; we are anticipating its length to be 3995 mm with a wheelbase around 2.6 metres. Five seats are available in 2-3 layouts with decent cargo capacity behind the second row. Because of the upright stance, rear-seating occupants are set to get spacious headroom, enhancing practicality and making long-distance travel convenient.

No details regarding its powertrain are available in the public domain. Reports say that on the front axle, it will have a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a one-speed automatic gearbox. The electric motor under the hood makes it a front-wheel-drive car. Two LPF battery packs, 42kWh and 51kWh, are anticipated for this upcoming EV.
In the Hyundai electric car lineup, the upcoming one is positioned below the Hyundai Creta Electric, which is already on sale in India in the Indian market with the starting ex-showroom price of ₹10.99 lakh under the Battery-as-a-Service plan. For the upcoming one, we are anticipating the BaaS ex-showroom price around ₹9 lakh.
The Creta Electric is available with two LFP battery packs; they are 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. With the former one, it gives the range of 420 km, but with the latter one, it can run up to 510 km after each full charge. It is available as front-wheel-drive, getting a PMSM with a one-speed automatic gearbox.
For the standard and larger battery pack, they get 135 PS and 171 PS power, respectively; the peak torque for both is 255 Nm. Three driving modes are available for both battery packs; these are Eco, Normal, and Sport. Its cabin gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with the Bose 8-speaker premium audio system.
Other feature highlights for this SUV are a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, an electric parking brake with auto hold, a wireless smartphone charger, ventilated front seats, cooled front armrest storage, an electric tailgate, rear air conditioning vents, and Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS, featuring forward collision warning, forward collision-avoidance assist, and others.
