The large-scale production of the MG 07, a mid-size fastback sedan, started on July 3, 2026, at SAIC Motor’s Zhengzhou manufacturing plant in China, marking the three millionth vehicle manufactured at the plant since the production began. They are all set to launch this model to the domestic market in the second half of 2026.
Following the launch, this vehicle will compete with the BYD Seal. The prices are still pending; many reports suggest that it will cost between 150,000 yuan and 200,000 yuan, which translates to ₹18 lakh to ₹24 lakh. Let’s have a closer look at this upcoming new energy vehicle from MG Motors.
Two powertrain options
The carmaker is all set to introduce this model in China as a battery electric vehicle and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. Reportedly, the BEV gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor, TZ185XY1181, from Shanghai Automotive Transmission with a single-speed automatic gearbox at the rear axle featuring a rear-wheel drive drivetrain.
Under the floor, it gets a 67 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, getting the power from the same electric motor to generate the maximum power of 176 kW (236 hp) and give the CLTC range up to 650 km. And the PHEV features a 1.5-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol-powered internal combustion engine under the hood, 82 kW (110 hp).

It has a 152 kW (204 hp) permanent magnet synchronous motor with a dedicated hybrid transmission on the front axle, featuring a front-wheel drive drivetrain. Equipped with a 30 kWh battery, giving the pure-electric emission-free WLTC range of 185 km, in the hybrid mode it can run up to 1,115 km, and the combined range is 1,300 km.
Measurement and size
The length, width, and height of the MG 07 are 4,886 mm, 1,900 mm, and 1,478 mm, respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,825 mm. It will come with a seating capacity of 5 people in 2-3 layouts. Behind the second row, it will have a large boot space that helps in carrying the luggage conventionally.
Compared to its main rival, the BYD Seal, it is 86 mm longer, 25 mm wider, and 18 mm taller, providing better headroom and shoulder room. But its wheelbase is shorter by 95 mm and features less legroom than its main competitor.
Driving technology
The carmaker is all set to introduce it with the Momenta R7 intelligent driving system, an AI-powered ADAS suite, which works with the light detection and range sensor on the roof for accurate 3D mapping, multiple cameras for 360° vision, millimeter-wave radar, ultrasonic sensors, and the Xheart X7 AI chip and features navigation autopilot for both city driving and highway cruising.

Interior features
The MG Motors will soon reveal the interior. It is set to feature soft-touch trims on the dashboard and doors to add premiumness and leather upholstery for seats to ensure better comfort. The center of the dashboard is highly anticipated to get a touchscreen infotainment system integrated with a multiple-speaker premium sound system.
The infotainment screen will support an AI-based voice assistant, wireless connectivity via Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, over-the-air software updates, and a connected car suite. Likely to get a three-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons for controls, under which a fully digital driver display is certain, which will show driving data.
Exterior and design
Outside, it features C-shaped LED headlights integrating main headlamps and daylight running lights, an MG logo below the hood, lower active air intakes, a roof-mounted LIDAR sensor, a sculpted clamshell bonnet, seven-spoke alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, and flush-type door handles.
Notable on its exterior are a double-tone front-door-mounted outside rear-view mirror that integrates a side reflector, a floating roofline, a full-width connected LED taillight, an MG logo on the tailgate to reflect branding, back bumper cladding, and a floating roof-mounted integrated rear windshield.
