The seven-seater Mahindra XEV 9S’s rivals arrived in the Indian market on August 26, 2026. The JSW MG Motors India has finally launched its first all-electric three-row sport utility vehicle, the MG Hector TOMAHAWK EV. The Mahindra car and the MG car are available for sale in the Indian market in multiple variants; here we have come up with the side-by-side comparison between these two SUVs.
For the comparison, we have chosen XEV 9S’s Pack Two Above 70 kWh and Hector TOMAHAWK EV’s Essence 7S trim. We have opted for these variants because they have near-similar battery capacity.

The MG electric vehicle is 8 mm longer with 48 mm more wheelbase and 23 mm taller, giving better legroom and headroom compared to rivals, but 50 mm less wide, resulting in less shoulder room; for three adults it may feel a little tighter; and it has just 1 liter of small boot space.

The MG’s e-SUV has a 0.8 kWh less capacity lithium-ion battery pack, giving 83 km less MIDC range, and supports 70 kW less capacity of the DC charger and takes 18 minutes more for charging.

The MG’s car has a 92 kW (126 PS) less powerful permanent magnet synchronous motor, whose torque is also 70 Nm less, takes 1.2 seconds more to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph, and has a 42 kmph less maximum speed. It has an FWD drivetrain that helps with good acceleration, but Mahindra’s e-SUV has an RWD, which is why it has better acceleration.

The MG’s electric car has a 3.5-inch smaller digital instrument cluster but a 3.3-inch larger touchscreen infotainment system that gives the feel of a mini theater, and it doesn’t have any co-passenger screen. Its driver seat has also an auto-retract and also a powered tailgate, which is not offered by the competitor, and it comes with 6 fewer units of sound system and a little less immersive audio experience.

MG’s electric vehicle has the same number of airbags to ensure the safety of occupants during the collision, even though it has the same advanced driving assistant system suite; the two features that it doesn’t have are the Blind View Monitor and Driver Drowsiness Detection.
Verdict
In terms of range, performance, charging speed, cabin technology, and safety equipment, the Mahindra XEV 9S Pack Two Above 70 kWh wins, but if the priority is lower purchase price, larger overall cabin dimensions, and value for money, then the recently introduced MG Hector TOMAHAWK EV Essence 7S also makes sense.
