10,000 Orders Before Launch - BYD Great Tang Debuts June 17 With 950 km Range

After starting the pre-sale for the BYD Great Tang on April 24, 2026, now Build Your Dream is going to launch this all-electric sport utility vehicle on June 17, 2026. Reportedly, as of May 7, 2026, the carmaker received more than 10,000 orders. Prices are still pending, notably, but it is certain that they will launch it at a significantly lower price than the one with which the pre-sale is taking place.

We expect that the carmaker will keep the sale price between 220,000 yuan and 300,000 yuan, which translates to ₹31.11 lakh and ₹42.43 lakh. In the Chinese market, it is set to compete with the Aito M9, Li Auto L9, and Geely Galaxy M9, following the launch. Let’s have a closer look at this upcoming full-size pure-electric SUV from BYD.

Aerodynamic body with modern LED front and rear lighting

Upfront, the Great Tang features a split headlight setup featuring ultra-slim, full-width LED daylight running lights below the nose, and the headlights are placed below the DRLs in a vertical shape, with vertical air ducts for cooling battery packs; a roof-mounted LiDAR unit reflecting the SUV is equipped with the internal driving assistant; and a closed-off grille gives modern EV styling.

The sides get large alloy wheels, flush-type door handles that reduce drag and add premiumness, dual-toned outside rearview mirrors with integrated side indicators, and blacked-out window trim with a chrome finish, and the rear comes with an integrated spoiler with a brake light, through-type full-width LED taillights creating a wide stance with BYD lettering at the center, and a minimalist tailgate.

Long wheelbase and expandable large boot space

BYD Great Tang revealed

The Great Tang’s length, width, and height are 5,263 mm, 1,999 mm, and 1,790 mm, respectively; the wheelbase is 3,130 mm. Comes with the seating capacity of 7 people in a layout of 2-2-3, two individual seats in the front row, two captain seats in the second row, and a bench-type seat in the third row.

Behind the third row, there is a trunk of 252 liters, which helps in carrying small luggage; folding the third-row seats expands the cargo capacity to 940 liters, and folding both second-row and third-row seats increases the boot space up to 1,655 liters.

Triple-screen setup dashboard and head-up display

BYD Great Tang Cabin

The Great Tang’s cabin gets a three-spoke steering wheel under which there’s a digital instrument cluster; the center of the dashboard gets an ultra-high-definition touchscreen infotainment system that can be electronically switched between landscape and portrait, and before the front passenger seat there’s a touchscreen for entertainment.

For the entertainment of rear-seating passengers, there’s also a 17.3-inch roof-mounted multimedia display that also features a head-up display showing all the driving data on the windshield. The cabin runs on the BYD DiLink Intelligent Cockpit System, being powered by the BYD 9000 customized cockpit chip that uses a cutting-edge 3-nanometer (3 nm) process.

Also features a 6.34 m² panoramic sunroof, a double wireless phone charging pad on the central console for phone charging conventionally, a built-in refrigerator for heating and cooling of beverages and meals, a 27-speaker 7.1.4 channel Devialet audio system, and BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 intelligent driving assistant that supports urban and highway NOA.

Fastest acceleration and long real-world range

Great Tang will make its debut with both single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD drivetrains. They will offer a rear-wheel-drive variant with two different BYD LFP Blade 2.0 battery packs that are 105.79 kWh and 130.15 kWh. With the standard battery pack, it delivers the power of 300 kW and gives a CLTC range of 800 km, but with the large one, it does 370 kW and runs up to 950 km.

On the other hand, the all-wheel drive variant is equipped with a 130.15 kWh BYD next-generation blade LFP battery pack, whose CLTC range is 585 km. The front and rear motors generate the power of 215 kW and 370 kW, respectively, whose combined power output is 585 kW, making the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration possible in 3.9 seconds.
