Tata Cars

Tata.Cars (formerly Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles) is selling seven electric car models in the Indian market; they are the Sierra EV, Harrier EV, Curvv EV, Nexon EV, Punch EV, Tiago EV, and Tigor EV. The cumulative sales figures for August 2026 are 12,992; the model-wise sales figures are yet to be made public. One of the reasons the brand has maintained the number one position is that the company introduced a new nameplate and two facelifts this year.

Mahindra Auto

Mahindra Auto is selling a total of five models in India: the XUV 3XO, XUV400, BE 6, XEV 9S, and XEV 9E. The total sale of these models in July 2026 is 6,368 units; the model-wise delivery numbers are still pending. Although this company holds the second position in sales, its sales have declined on a MoM basis; however, an increase is expected next month, as the company has recently launched an updated Sporteq edition of the BE 6.

JSW MG Motor India

JSW MG Motor is currently selling a total of five models in India: the Comet EV, Windsor EV, ZS EV, Cyberster, and Hector Tomahawk EV. Sales for August 2026 stood at 4,569 units, combining the first four models, as the last one was launched recently. On a month-to-month basis, this company also has registered a decline, but it could see an uptick next month due to the launch of the new model for families looking for a spacious EV car.

VinFast India

VinFast sells a total of three electric car models in India: the VF 6, the VF 7, and the VF MPV 7. The combined sales in August 2026 are 2,196 units; however, model-wise sales figures have not yet been made public. Remarkably, the company has registered positive growth compared to the previous month despite there being no recent updates or launch. A new nameplate, VF 3, will be soon added to the lineup, which is expected to further strengthen its positioning in the EV segment.

Maruti Suzuki

So far, Maruti Suzuki has launched only one electric car model in the Indian market, which is the e-Vitara. Its total sales in August stood at 1,391 units, a slight decrease compared to the previous month; a possible reason for this decline in sales is that it has been around eight months since its launch; after that, multiple rivals have arrived to market. The company will soon launch another electric car that is expected to be quite affordable, which will certainly improve its sales number in the segment.
