Jetta X Concept All-Electric Affordable SUV For China: Targets 100,000 Yuan Entry EV Segment

Jetta, a car brand established by the Volkswagen Group with the collaboration of FAW Group, unveiled the X concept on April 21, 2026, during Volkswagen’s Media Night. The production model of the same is most likely to be known as the Jetta EV, which will be introduced in China as an entry-level all-electric SUV around the price of 100,000 yuan.

Production of the all-electric sport utility vehicle on the Jetta X concept is most likely to start in the very near future, and its launch may happen by the 2026’s end. The concept has disclosed almost all about its exterior design, but they haven’t made public any information regarding interior features, dimensions, battery pack, range, charging, and charging time.

Modern Lights & Closed-off Grill

The X concept front fascia features a slim LED light signature that gives a modern look and also improves visual sharpness, a closed-off grill which features a clean and smooth front fascia, an upright stance which ensures a strong SUV presence, and a simple bumper design which reflects a budget-focused approach.

In profile, it gets a boxy silhouette, giving it a tough appearance; pronounced fenders creating a muscular stance; trapezoidal wheel arches with black cladding adding rugged styling; flush-type doors improving aerodynamics; and alloy wheels making its road presence bold.

At the back, it comes with narrow LED tail lamps that match the front-end lighting theme; a flat and upright tailgate which not only maximises the boot space but also usability; a simple and clean layout that helps in keeping it cost-effective; and skid-plate-style trim with red tow hooks that adds a little rugged touch.

Minimalist Cabin & Large Infotainment System

Nothing about its interior is disclosed officially, but it is certain that its layout will be minimalist with a very few physical buttons. The cabin is likely to have two large touchscreens, one for the driver as a digital instrument cluster that shows all the driving data, and another for passengers for infotainment, which also acts as a central control of the cabin.

It will feature a seating layout of 5 people with a configuration of 2 and 3 and a large boot space that can carry multiple pieces of luggage. The front row seats are expected to be powered and also feature ventilation, massage and heating functions. The rear seats may also include functions from the front ones and also get inclining features for comfort.

For safety it is sure to get multiple airbags across the cabin and LiDAR-based ADAS for semi-autonomous driving. It may also get a wireless phone charging pad, a multiple-speaker premium sound system, multi-colour ambient lighting, double-zone automatic climate control, and Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.

Large Battery & Fast Charging

The X concept’s technical details are yet to be made public. It is more likely that the FAW-VW will come with two battery packs featuring standard and long range. It is likely to be based on 400-volt electrical architecture, so it may support a DC charger up to 150 kW, which takes around 30 minutes for 10-80% charging.

It is expected to be available in a single drivetrain that may be rear-wheel drive, which means the vehicle is going to be equipped with a single PMS motor on the rear axle, and the transmission is sure to be single-speed automatic. The top speed can be around 200 km/h, and it takes around 7-8 seconds for 0-100 km/h acceleration.
